Will broken door cable stop central locking?
I have swapped over door cards for HSE with piano black ones.
I swapped the who;e door card rather than just the inserts.
While doing it I broke the clip-the "knob" on the end has come away (see pic below) on the interior door cable, so while I can still open the door etc, it s a bit "flappy".
Now the central locking wont work
Is it that because the cable is loose it cant do the drivers door lock, therefore not working on the car?

Usually if one lock fails the others will lock but if in your case the door will not be closing completly the central locking will not work, just like if the bonnet is not closed properly. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

close the door fully.
press the lock button 3 times.
Is it now locked? if yes, the motor is tired. Could of been like that before you started and you just didn't realise

Its all abit odd.
Nothing happens at all when I press the button 3 times. Doesnt lock at all.
Even if i manually pull the cable on the drivers door nothing happens. It beeps at me to tell me something is wrong (like when you try to lock it with a door open.
Only the boot locks???
Could it be the different motors etc in the new door cards?

If the door is not fully closed the central locking will not operate, you describe it as being “flappy”!- is that the door or the cable?
What are the motors in the door cards?- as far as I know there aren’t any!It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

All a bit odd.
I put the old door cards back in the front 2 doors (just swapped the piano black inserts) and everything is working
So it MUST be something to do with the different looms or modules on the front door cards. As soon as I replaced the front door cards, the corresponding rear doors started working properly.
Bit of a shame as I liked the ambient lights in the HSE cards!

Humm ok, this is a D4.
SO they have seat memory on the drivers door,
lock and unlock buttons
and electric window switches on the passenger.
Can you not swap the electrical items ? if that is the cause

I guess I could, but now they are working I might leave as is. Number 1 priority was the piano black trim, which I have now as I swapped over to the old door cards.
Number 2 was the memory seat function and to stop my seats only working in bursts. But that didnt work with the memory function switches either.
