Its not a popular view, but I think if you dont contrbiute to the community as a whole you should not get the vote.
No I dont mean the person injured at work or in a car crash etc, I mean the work shy shirters who would vote in idiot after idiot and bring the country to its knees and the taxes through the roof.

You should read "In the Wet" by Nevile Shute. He thinks about voting systems and proposes the "7 votes" where, as you progress through life, you accumulate more votes (every one has a vote at 21, you get another for education, for a certain salary and so on.
Nice idea but probably still open to abuse
