I use Bosch Aerotwin and have never had an issue with them...

Second the Bosch aero twins, no squeaks or rubbing after over a year of use!

Unfortunately in very hot weather the rubbers can stick to the windscreen and shear when you use them to clear insect debris.
It can help to peel the rubbers off, pulling along their length, before setting off. This will also demonstrate how much they can adhere to the screen.

Also never use your wipers to clear ice off the screen as that will also rip them apart, wait until the heated screen has as least warmed the screen... so being Scotland you can’t us them in winter and more recently you can’t use them in summer Laughing

I turn off the automatic wipe in the winter. More than once I've started the car and the wipers have tried to move on a frosty morning.

On the other hand I've tried 2 sets of aerotwins and they both made a really annoying CRACK sound on the drivers side when they reach uppermost position and change direction.

The cheap halfords ones were silent in comparison

Normally any 'crack' sound when the drivers side blade changes direction, is down to the blade hitting the plastic trim on the 'A' pillar, just adjust the arm on the spigot and all will be well.

If they're genuine Bosch, they shouldn't give issues, copies at half the price, well that's why they are half the price.

They are genuine aerotwins, they dont contact anything and two sets have now given this problem so back to the halfords specials I think!
