Wing mirrors fail to fold in on locking

Anyone got any ideas on this ?

Intermittently, when I lock the car the doors lock OK but instead of the wing mirrors folding in I get (after a pause) a double beep.

Double beep is usually the sign that it hasn’t locked, door open, bonnet not latched etc. Maybe one of the door lock motors getting lazy and not locking Question

Ah, thanks Washwipe, should have thought of that myself. It was exactly as you said one of the doors is being lazy. Thumbs Up

Highly likely drivers door not locking through locking motor failing, if you have keyless entry lock car and put the keys out of range, but not to far as you will need them when you find the culprit to stop the alarm Whistle

Edit: must learn how to type faster, it’s not being lazy actually it’s worn out and if you don’t give it your undivided attention it will lock closed Big Cry then you will have a major job as it is nigh on impossible to get to the lock actuator .
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Replacing lock actuator

Hi Just been investigating why the mirrors don't fold back and a strange double beep - you've described the problem perfectly - fault door actuator. Is this a DIY job to replace and if so is there a guide somewhere I can follow?

Thanks in advance

AIUI it is a fairly straightforward DIY job - the only complication being that you might break the lugs off the latch cover in taking it off, in which case £30 more for a replacement piece of plastic + £15 to paint it.

Can't help with instructions though as I had someone do it for me ... Whistle
