Is there much truth in the word that 4x4 prices hold a bit firmer in the cold weather?
I've just sold my Landcruiser a bit quicker than I had thought and am now looking for a D4 XS but at the moment nothing is for sale that exactly suits my wishes. There are a couple that I would settle on but just feel that for the price I am not really getting something particularly good value or with any additional spec over the basic XS (can't justify an HSE).
So I guess what I'm asking is, would you go without for a month or two in the hope of prices coming down a little, or just get on with it and buy something now?

Yes they do hold or go up in value when there thermometer drops and the white stuff starts to appear....there will be a minor shift in the spring but overall LR residuals are very strong across the year so don't expect a dramatic drop 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

If you are looking at an XS there isn't much under the £30K bracket !
Well nothing worth having in my opinion.
Prices are holding on the D3 let alone the highly desirable D4 !
I've tried my usual cheeky attempts to get money off the asking price and that came to absolutely nothing, which then lead me down the path of I'll just buy new then !
Which scared me so I retreated, that will probably happen another 3 times in the next few months and by the 4th time it will all become learnt behaviour, my head will automatically have informed everything else I have D4 and all that will remain will be handing over some cash ! Only dead fish go with the Flow !

I would pay that if I could get a nice 3yr old XS with around 25k miles, in either grey or silver, with one or two extras such as xenons or reverse cam. When I am looking online now, there seem to be plenty in the £31-32k bracket with no extras whatsoever. As I am buying cash I was hoping I might come across a private seller trying to beat their trade in price, here's hoping something comes up at the right money.

Prices have usually firmed up over the winter. Two years ago I sold my HSE in Jan for same price as I paid 6 months earlier. Just sold a D3 HSE for 26k via a friends dealership, lovely car but crazy money. Back into a D4 XS now as its less of a work horse.
