Winter suggestion pls

I have Contis on 18" and Cooper ST's on 17" as a choice for this winter season.

Coopers on at the moment but with the roads being damp and greasy I'm finding her a bit wooly on the bendy bits, corners etc

Thing is I only have 5mm on the contis and coopers have loads of thread on em. Confused

Any advice would be appreciated once tyre related Rolling Eyes

STs are REALLY hard rubber, not a lot of silica, which is why they corner like a greased polecat in the cold.

Conti Winter Contacts or Vredstein Wintracs are good winter tyres available in 255/60/18, or you could get 18" ATRs (which are a lot cheaper than the 19s) as an all-rounder.

The Contis you have with 5mm will be better than the STs in the cold.

I use STs all the time summer, winter, hot cold etc, never had any problems - perhaps its the way you drive Al Whistle

My ST's were always an 'interesting drive' in the damp - could invoke what felt like a four wheel drift without too much effort - MTR's are sooooooooooooo much better Bow down
