Winter, Summer or All Season Tyres?

Hi
Wife needs 4 new tyres on her Evoque.
245/45-R20 103v
Fitted at the moment are Continental CrossContact’s, which are ok, and done 33500 miles, but they are a summer tyre, and I’m wondering if it’s sensible to replace with the same or try something else.
At £222 each fitted they aren’t cheap!!!
Can she run Wintracs all year round??
Tyre choice is limited in this size/rating.
Cheers in advance for your thoughts?

What sort of driving?

Much off-road - presumably not in an Evoque.

The GG AT3 might be worth considering.

Plenty have run Wintracs year round.
Though I suspect they are not very good in mud.
But excellent winter tyre on the road

Professional advice is they are called Winter Tyres for a reason

My choice would be Michelin Cross Climate but no use to you in your size

As said plenty do run winters all year I wouldn't but ultimately your choice Thumbs Up
Ive wasted ten years of my life on this forum bring back the originals

Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season is available in that size and has an LR "rating". It's an 85% road tyre so likely fits your use pattern.

There are a few different Verdes so be careful comparing them some are all weather and some are just summer. I had a set of the Wintrac 4 extreme on all year round no problems and never got stuck with them

The vredstein 4trak winter tyre is truely excellent in all cold, wet, slushy, snowy, icy conditions. And it truly stinks on wet grass or mud. As long as no off road is planned then running them all year could work but they will wear quicker than a harder compound all season tyre.

Pirelli Verde All Season 245/45R20 99V are what will go on my wife's Evoque when her Continentals wear out. I was disappointed they supplied summer rather than all season tyres on hers - it seems to be a lottery whether you get Continental, Michelin or Pirelli. The 99V are cheaper than the 103V XL and also seem to be what LR supply (see topix).

I’m running Scorpion Verde 21” on the D5, so far pretty impressed in the icey conditions we’ve had up here.

Car park at work has been closed because of ice but I had no problems getting parked, walking down the half thawed wet grass was an issue though, it’s steeper than it looks on the photos.

Hi,
there are that many choices and all have a compromise some where, if you are keeping the car a fair while you at least get to compare them from what you have now.

our recent car change means one set of wheels now 21" (did have 19" GGAT's and 19" wintracs)

and it came with Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season, have been fine pushing on in the wet, towed the tintent out of a very wet grass field, no sign of twitching on the recent cold/icy roads either

so far so good Thumbs Up

Agree with Al,

I would still rather put a set of True Winter tyres on for the colder weather,
will just have to wait until May/June time to pick up another set of wheels with them on Whistle

Thumbs Up

Yes, but on a certain web site they don’t make it very clear that the summer ones are summer, also the verdes come with different speed and weight rated options.
