wiper trouble

wiper trouble

started the car this morning and the wipers were on,windscreen was frozen so one worked and the other stayed stuck.
i have freed it but it does not work right,it goes for a few goes then stops and the other one bashes into it.how do i fix this are they belt driven or something.
its the drivers side which makes it worse

First of all check that the nut hasn't worked loose on the wiper arm , the arm sits onto a spline and if come loose may not be gripping properly.

Secondly , the wipers are connected by linkages to the motor so may have popped off as on ball sockets.

might be 1st one i can get hold of wipere and move it where i want then it works but then stops,seems strange olny a problem since froze last night

well found the problem,the splines in the wiper arm have worn and it is smooth,quite worn on the bolt it fixes to.
had new windscreen fitted while back,makes me wonder if they fitted it back right

You may find that the steel spline isn't "worn" but filled with alloy from the wiper arm. A good scrape and a clean with a fine screwdriver or similar usually cures Thumbs Up
