Recommendation was 245 for the STT's. Looks like some have gone larger.
As for 17"/STT's versus 19"/MTR's from the limited knowledge I have it seems to be swings and round-a-bouts. Tread patterns; bigger/smaller sidewalls; strength of the tyre etc.
Probably one isn't better than the other - just different approach. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
