Anyone using synthetic winch ropes might be interested in one of these. We're thinking of ordering a couple, anyone else interested? If we can put a big enough order in we'll get free postage and might be able to negotiate a further discount
Alternatively if anyone has the right kit and thinks they can make something similar themselves cheaper I suspect you'll be able to sell a few The End

Something similar with a way to pin them to the ground would be idea for synthetic too. That all I'm really after, can't see me getting much use out of its other 'benefits'
As Ken discovered on Sunday somthing to protect the rope if you have to pull aross something is a must The End

You will struggle to make anything like that cheaper than they are selling it for. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I have video of Ken's rope \ floor contact if you want to see it at some point It did dig in deep ..I'd say 3 maybe 4 inches into stoney soil. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

The X-Zag looks a good idea, but it does seem pricey. Surely you could ask a friendly plumber to knock up the same with some 22mm tube, using a pipe bending tool. I might not be as strong, so you may not want to use it for lifting wheels as shown on the site, but it would do the job of protecting a winch cable. Matt

Plenty of plumbing kit around here if you want to give it a go, copper would be too soft but steel would be alright if we can bend it okay The End

I have a pipe bending spring for bending 22mm copper tube - I'm certain that, whilst you could make this, the stress from a cable (whether steel or composite) would buckle any standard plumbing pipe.
If I can bend the pipe with my 2 hands, then the static load generated by a winch pulling a heavy stuck vehicle will definitely crumple it.
As someone else says - looks cheap at the price they're quoting really.
And, considering it's in Stainless Steel, it looks a bargain. Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue
Had it since new - sold Jun 17 after 12 years and 214,000 miles

Thats for the HSP125
They dis mention discount was dependent upon quantity, but as these are normally used in tens, if not hundreds at a time, 15% is probably all we can expect
That will be +VAT as well, although I can collect
