xenon upgrade, loosing the will
Upgrade to xenon from halogen on a D4
I’ve been told this is simple, I’ve gone and bought a set xenon’s and tried to have them enabled via a CCF update as everyone has said and unfortunately it simply won’t allow it.. please help before I sell the lights on! I’m assuming as my vehicle doesn’t have self levelling lights it won’t allow xenon’s to be enabled as it keeps saying “ xenon not fitted” and won’t allow the change but I’m happy to be proven wrong!
Vechicle is an MY10 D4 xs non dlr and I’m based in kent

Should be straightforward.
You don’t need self levelling lights with air suspension.
Strictly speaking you need headlamp washers with Xenons.
Autologic will enable the vehicle, think there’s a couple of check boxes to tick.
Can’t see what the problem is tbh.

What happens when you switch on the Xenons on the D4?
Before being enabelled,
The D3 would flicker a few times, then all would be fine.
The D4 was more problematic. Dip beam didn’t work, full beam did from memory?
Yes more power is required to start up the Xenons, but I can’t ever remember that the wiring not taking the current was a problem.
PS you have been charged about 3x the going rate for fitting and enabeling. Cost at an Indy should be between £25-£35, anymore and you’ve been ripped off.

So the new lights work in your other D4. What happens when you put the HSE lights into your XS D4? Do they work or also stay dark.

they also flash then stay dark.. the car is flagging headlights short fault as start-up current drawn by the xenon's is far higher than halogen lights.
The car think there is a short circuit situation and shuts them off after a second or two.
Once the car is configured for xenon it will expect to see the high start up current and all will be fine but as you can see in the pic the tautologic system wouldn't allow the ccf to be altered apparentlywww.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

All seems a bit strange. It’s not a difficult upgrade. You’re the first I’ve heard of to have a problem with it. I presume the garage that tried it has done it before and knows what he is doing? If so, I am at a loss tbh.

it's not the wiring that's a limit … I think the loom is common to both re. the headlamps.
however, the car delivers the leccy to the units through MOSFET transistors and not fuses. So the extra oomph taken by the xenons is registered as a fault and the car cuts the power to save the wiring.

I’d be taking the car and bill back to Rovertune and demanding my £75 back. They charged you for a incompetent service.
