Why are Xenons 'Bi'?

Why do Landrover call these light units Bi Xenon rather than just Xenon? Apart from the bleeding obvious answer that they give you one on each side Confused

I'd sort of assumed Embarassed that both dipped and main beam would be Xenon units but this is clearly not the case as the main beams are halogen lamps. At least this is the case on my adaptive units.

I'm sure someone more technically minded will respond, but I think the halogen light is actually a driving light & both dipped & main beam are indeed xenon. As for the "bi" issue, there's some sort of mechanical flap that changes from dip to main beam using the same bulb (rather than older xenons that used different bulbs?)

Exactly as described Thumbs Up
