Yup, did mine at Christmas on a 57 plate xs fitted with standard halogen lights - bought some used xenons from a site member. Took 10 minutes in minus 10 or so and a big improvement. Look 8) too! Thumbs Up

I'd like to think that this was possible. There is the danger that it isn't quite as plug and play as the D3, and please don't ask about adaptives....that's one step beyond.

Any further development on this? Is it possible to upgrade to non-adaptive Xenons on the D4 as a DIY job?

Pete has done some testing and to move from Halogen to Xenon (non and adaptive) is possible but requires software activation for them to work. Its not like the D3 where they would just work, you now have to tell the D4 they are fitted otherwise they light up and then go out again.

So far I have only supplied D4 Xenon adaptives as the standard D4 Xenons haven't come through yet.

Pete has done the work and more information is in this thread.

The software activation was to get the cornerning lamps working in the adaptive lights. Non-adaptives seem not to have the cornering lamps so no activation is required.

As said by ljason286, If Halogens are removed and the Xenons are fitted in place they need turning on because the Body control ecu sences an overload when the Xenon fires up and cuts power to the light.

The only part that is plug and play is the LED Angel lights in place of the normal side light which is no good for seeing in the dark.

If Xenon Adapties are fitted the conrering can be enabled to work also because the wire needed is fitted as standard, however the Adaptive motor part does not work because there is a module missing.

I will have eventually a full conversion available for fully adaptive lights working in the correct way as per landrover, but for the moment the only option is Xenons or Xenons with cornering and of coruse both come with LED Angel lights.

ljason286's are now fitted and working perfectly after todays meet with him, along with the 4x4 info screen, Tow bar activation, Voice enabled and chirp on alarm set and unset Smile

I am sure one of our kits would work without having to reprogramme the ecu
Any D4 owners out there willing to try for a good discount?

The normal HID's and CAN friendly HID kits large or slim ballasts do work in most cases without any modification to the car its agreed, with a big BUT im afraid to say.

Basicly if the ballast goes faulty and the lights try to turn on, the BCU of the car has a major shut down and with this shut down the engine stops Confused

Ive tested various kits and re created problems with the kits ranging from short circuit to hi load drain and im sorry to say this is why i removed them from my car as they were really not safe especially when the engine cuts out if the lights turn on automaticly and you are not expecting it a 60mph as it did with me.

Please Please dont take my post as criticism, im only giving my safety opinion of HIDs in D4 which as said i think should be forgotten about incase of the problems.

Pete
