XS seat adjustability

Hi,

Looking to change my wife's Freelander for a D4.

I'd be using it a lot of course and being tall I like the ability to angle the seat base up on the HSE model. I've not sat in an XS yet, but wondered if tilting the seat base up is also possible on the XS?

Thanks!

On my MY12 XS, the seat base and back can be moved and tilted independently of each other.

I don't know if the D4 is the same as Freelander 2, but electric seats were an option on the FL2 XS and were more adjustable than the manual ones.

Worth checking before making a journey.

The seat base on an XS can only tilt independantly at the front and back if it has the electric seat option. If its manual, then its "height adjustable" but what this means is the front end is fixed and if you raise the seat height the rear of the seat base rises not the whole squab.

The XS seat is comfortable and as said, adjustable to a fair degree. As a six footer, I find there's no height issues like there were in earlier Land Rovers. With the Discovery 2 I recall I found myself on a level with the top of the windscreen. For an even more comfortable seat, go for the HSE. Electrically adjustable and has pre-sets, ideal for two drivers. Both XS and HSE should have heated seats.

I'm tall and need the extra headroom and seat adjustability of an HSE (or higher spec. Luxury/Landmark)

I am over 6' and with the D3 found the manual adjust seat a literal pain in the back. Although its height adjustable it tips the cushion when moved (Unequal four bar linkage) . After 6 months I had to sell the brand new vehicle and change to a used higher spec with Electric seats which allows independent tilt of the cushion.

Yep - its what I found. I'm 6'4" and it was the lack of support under the back of my knees that was the problem as this height isnt adjustable on the manual seats, it is on the electric ones.

I'm only 6'1" but my hse seat adjustment is perfect for me. Don't know if this is the same as an XS electric seat.

its doesnt really matter about model spec, just if electric or manual adjustment, thats what makes the biggest difference

As Al has already said. I had an XS with manual seats and now have an SE Tech with optional electric seats. On the manual seats you can't move the front and back of the base up and down independently whereas you can with the optional electric adjustment. Although basically the same seat I can get much more comfortable in the SE Tech; I'm 6'2".
