Thanks for your comments. Have you tried your Geolandars in sand? How did they compare with the Wranglers?

I am wondering if anyone has experience with both the Cooper HT+ and Geolander A/T-S and can comment on their relative advantages and disadvantages?

Ryan.

I have HT+s and they are good on road and on dirt. They air down well anda are almost bullet proof compared to the OEM Wranglers. Thumbs Up They are not so good in the mud though.
My spare is still original and i am about to put the GGs on. I even found a couple of screws embedded and still no puncture when I took them out. Surprised

Hi Ryan,
I haven't tried my Geolandars in sand - so can't compare.

CaverD3 has Cooper HT+ in his D3 and I have the Geolandars... the main difference in tread pattern I could see was at the edges. The Geolandars have a more aggressive block pattern at the edge and some sidewall protecting ridges.

I've now travelled over 45,000km on them and the only one which looks like it has worn was due to the dodgy LR-supplied-from-factory lower suspension arm components - ball joints and bushes. This wore the outside edge off the front near side tyre. The rest still look like new. Just an idea of how well they handle the rough stuff - I was the only one on the trip to Bendethera (from 11 or so D3s) which had 18" wheels on. All the rest had 17" wheels with mainly Cooper STTs. One D3 with STTs blew a STT sidewall on one particularly rough section.

FWIW, I heard that on sand that pressure is more important than tread pattern.

Cheers,
Rob

Thanks for your comments! I agree with you regarding sand driving Rob as footprint and technique seem to be the keys. That said, I am still not certain if I should go with the Coopers or Yokohamas.

Either way it seems they will be better than the Wranglers!

Does anyone have any further thoughts?

Thanks again,
Ryan.

Sorry, this is a bit late, but just noticed the discussion on Yoki Geo's and sand.

After spending a big day out on the dunes the Geolanders were brilliant; just had to find the right tyre pressure - 16psi - and nothing stopped us!
Very Happy Very Happy
Very happy with these tyres.

Jonesy - just read your post.....ME TOO!!
Outside edge of the nearside tyre - like a baby's bottom! The rears are fine. Sad

Had the ball joints replaced two weeks ago, together with front diff (Caverd3 you were right about the whine!)

Have oredered two new Yoki's for the front prior to next weeks 'event'.

Hi Vic,
I now have 48,000km on my set of Geolandars and they are still going great. Love them! Thumbs Up

I reckon there is about another 15,000km in them.
Cheers,
Rob
