So I thought I'd give the Icemaiden a blow out before winter is upon us. Went to run the FBH via the IID & got E7 error the first time around. Second time it fired up albeit a bit smoky. I thought i'd use the WTT software to run the burner manually for longer to burn off the excess diesel. However, I can connect to the FBH but when I click parking heater in the control nothing more happens. The kit use to work fine on the D3 with 2.14. I see that 2.61 is recommended for a D4 so tried that but no difference.
Any ideas?

Just following up my own thread here. Since posting I've also purchased a breakout lead & tried Robbies method of connection with the loom in place & using probe pins. I've tried all versions of WTT up & including 3.6. I can connect in every instance, but not start the FBH with WTT. I note that Robbies test was on a MY13, is there something different about a MY16 that prevents this method of test from working?

Hi Skagg,
Not sure if this helps but when I run diagnostics on WTT, I use the Auxiliary Heater program and not the Parking Heater program. Not sure if that makes any difference for you?
I gave in up the end after trying various combinations. I then remembered I could trigger it through the manual timer which was enough to clear the FBH. Now it runs clean when either manually started or automatically.. still unable to start it using the WTT SW though.

Glad yours is working. I'm stumped with mine at the moment - works fine on the IID tool and also with the WTT link. It just doesn't seem to want to work on its own! It did fire up one morning in October, but not since then. I've ordered up a remote switch in the hope that I can manually start it on these cold mornings.Previously:

So here's something that doesn't seem to appear too often but it's an absolute verified fact.... the FBH only attempts to fire automatically if you've put the car heating on.
Honestly, it's true! I've seen someone else post this before also and I've confirmed it on my vehicle but for some reason it's not well known and not mentioned in the literature. Perhaps it's model or year specific but my D3 is MY07 and this is 100% the case.
If you still don't believe be, plug in your IID tool, open live values for auxiliary heater for things like glow plug, fuel pump and water pump etc... you'll see that they remain off until you activate the climate controls in the car (requesting heat) and then it gets a signal to fire.
Of course, this only works assuming the well known criteria of 5 degrees or less, not on reserve fuel is in place etc etc.

I always understood that it was the A/C that had to be on, or at least on the eco setting. Not that this would be my issue - living in the frozen north, there are very few times when the heating is not on! Previously:

FBH won't fire-up when starting the car
Hi all
Tried with my IID: works fine - tried with WTT-software: fault given is 88h.
Took it to a Webasto-dealer: apparently nothing can be done for a WTT V, because it's exclusively for LR-dealers. He's unable to read faultcodes an spare parts for this particular device are unavailable.
Tank is full.
I'm a bit out of options here and I can't find a thread that deals with this issue.
Any advice would be welcome !

The reason that this always caught me out is that I don't bother putting the heating on until the engine is warm as what's the point!? Well, the engine rarely got warm tootling around town without the FBH assisting and I've not long learned that the FBH doesn't fire without the heating on FFS!

Moving to the D3 from the FL2, I am used to pressing the "Prog" button whenever it is properly cold, as that switched on the electric boost heater which LR introduced in place of the Webasto. So the concept of the car needing to request heat was already ingrained! Previously:
