IID vs Autel 200

OK, so I'd like a useful ODBD reader which can help me read faults, live values and configure things which are configurable on my D3.

I gather that the IID tool is the daddy of them all but as I'm not an oil baron I can't justify the money. What does the IID tool do that something like the Autel 200 doesn't please?

Many thanks

The gap IID is the only one to do configuration changes.

I love my Gap lld but with the price difference I would have bought an Autel if I had known about them.

Thanks Pete. What sorts of things then does that include. Are we talking about ride heights, engine remaps etc?

Am I right in assuming that the Autel can reset adaptive values, clear codes and read live values though?

Thanks AJA. Are there any modules or areas of the car that the Autel doesn't pick up? I bought a ProDiag one for my D3 and it failed to pick up any of the modules other than to tell me that there was an open circuit on one of my speakers....hardly ground breaking. I sent it back for a refund but I'm nervous to buy another.

Also, slightly random but I've had a BAS remap and someone once told me to be careful not to take my car to a LR dealer as I might lose the map once they plug it into their kit. Is there any risk of these scanners clearing off my BAS remap?

Just to throw a spanner in the works I've seen that there is now a V3 if the icarsoft LR offering which claims todo suspension calibration etc

Hi Bracechenko,

The Autel will basically read everything, both static and live, and will carry out maintenance changes to the car such as suspension & steering recalibration, as well as key coding, but it doesn’t let you access the ecu codes to write your own or modify, that you’d need the Iid for. I’ve dropped a couple of screenshots below of the Autel

Thanks Kevin. I take it you'd recommend then? Think I'll take a punt for £50.

Any ideas on my query re: remap? I can't imagine that it could wipe off my BAS remap but just want to be sure.

The Autel is a great bit of kit. Just can't do config changes (upgrade mods like reverse camera, headlight config: halogen to xenon) that you requested.

Both calibrate the suspension and program keys.

Regarding ECU s/w updates/patches/remaps. Only The Gap can do that. But you have to pay additional charges for the map, etc.

Definitely worth a punt, most of us who bought them early on bought them “on a punt” but have never regretted it. It sits in the glove box permanently and there’s been a couple of times it’s got the car started and me home by itself.
Having it able to work across cars is a plus too, I ran the codes on someone else’s D3 over the weekend and found the issue, and I’ve had it on mates freelander a couple of times too.

My AP200 worked okay for a couple of months but then just says already registered when i try to bind it.
Can't do anything with it at all despite quite a few support requests... that have gone unanswered.
