Locking car with tailgate open
I've just got a Discovery 4 and wonder if anyone can tell me how to lock the car with the tailgate open, or at least the top glass section.

Mine bleats and refuses to lock. However you might be able to leave the driver's window open and reach in to flip the lever?

Yes mine bleats and refuses to lock too. Wouldn't want to leave the window open enough to get arm in. I just can't believe there isn't a way to lock the car with tailgate open. Never had a car that this wasn't possible before.

not sure if this would work for you or not but if the car is locked used the boot release button on the fob.
for me that only opens the boot and the rest of the car stays locked and mirrors folded in. XC90 T8 R Design Pro

It is possible to lock the car with the top tail gate open I do it for the dogs all the time. I use a D shaped loop type thing and click it into the lower latch to fool the car into thinking the upper is closed.

Indeed possible BUT you can also open the lower part of the tailgate with that method. With the D loop into the latch approach the lower part stays locked - important with a dog crate in the back for me.

If you lock the car then just open the boot, it does the same as the fob, keeps the front locked and unlocks the rearMike

The answer is to get a Ventlock (www.ventlock.co.uk) but make sure you tell them it is for a Discovery as you require a modified one. There is also a fix required to improve the vehicles security but you will need to get someone to PM the fix so it does not appear on the open forum..
