I changed the DNS settings on one of my domains (added a new record) and it was working in seconds.

If you want to have virtually instant DNS updates, then AWS is very good - (Amazon Web Services) costs a couple of quid a month Thumbs Up

I can add an A Record that will work within seconds, the problem is releasing the original one which several people have told me that it can take up to 24 hours, very frustrating. I only let the gateskits.co.uk one come to the primary position because there was an issue that is now fixed with advancedfactors.co.uk but to get the other one off I have been told to delete it and it will find it's way, in the meantime trading has slowed down dramatically apart from the few of you that know the .com site will work.

Hopefully normal service will resume today!

You can change the TTL value of most DNS records. It's not exactly approved behaviour, you would normally set a low TTL if you knew that you were going to change the address of the service ahead of time. However, if you can set the TTL to four hours instead of 24, all downstream DNS will refresh at that four hour mark. No good for the present situation, but worth thinking about for the future.

Your domains aren't hosted by Heart Internet by any chance?
There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.

Most of my domains come from LCN however this one was organised for me by one of our partner businesses so I don't actually know. Shop is ekmpowershop, they are normally pretty good however yesterday was mega frustrating and I suspect I will be on the phone again shortly Sad
