[For Sale] Spare or Repair 54Reg Discovery 3 HSE
For sale is my Discovery 3 which I’ve had since 2016 but am selling as there is water in the suspension module and wiring after driving through a flooded road recently. I’m selling the car for spares or repair as I was using the car for work and don’t have the time or resources to get it fixed. The vehicle is a 54 reg Discovery 3 HSE and in reasonable condition for its age and mileage, the engine fires up first time and is sweet as a nut, its possible to drive the car but due to water in the suspension module its in access mode with terrain response and speedo not working. I took the car to a local garage who have looked after my car for years following the incident, they diagnosed water in the suspension module and wiring and suggested seeking a LR garage who know more about the problem. The car currently has 156,000 miles on the clock.

Engine sweet as a nut as and fires up first time.
6 new injectors fitted after I bought it costing £1800.00 as there was an issue with the original items.
The car has passed its last 4 MOT’s first time and is MOT’d until Dec 23
Rear locking diff fitted, this was an optional extra on D3’s and makes it an awesome green laner.
2 relatively new General Grabber AT3 to the rear, the two tyres to the front have less tread but more than road legal.
8mm metal sump guard, powder coated in black in excellent condition
Shire fabrication rock/tree sliders fitted, these are solid as a rock but are known for their poor coating, these have signs of surface rust but a sand blast and powder coat will have them good as new which is what I was going to do.
Full leather interior (7 seats) in working order both front and rear heated seats work as they should.
D4 front/rear lights and grill.
2x key fobs
Bad points
Water in the suspension module and wiring, I’ve not idea to what extent there’s water in the wiring.
D4 HSE alloys fitted, these are marked as I frequently went laning but the are not cracker or buckled.
There is surface rust to the rear arches when opening the rear door (passed its MOT in this condition so I presume its surface)
There is a tiny chip in the heated windscreen which was there when I bought the car in 2016, its never bothered me and its passed the MOT’s but I’m wanting to be as honest as I can be.
The handbrake works but is sometimes temperamental and screeches when in off road height.
The parking sensors don’t work.
The towbar on the back has a seized lock, I’ve started to swap it over when I drove through the flooded road, the bracing is in the garage, you’ll need a green locking gadget but it will be solid when put back together.
The car is nearly 20 years old so there is the usual age related marks to the paint/bodywork but on the whole it still looks good when valeted.
I was not wanting to get rid of this car and have spent a lot of money on it over the years to keep it going with lots of receipts from me and the previous owner who was a LR collector, but as mentioned above I need my car everyday for work and it needs to be reliable which as you can see by the bad points things now need attention so I’ve bought another car and decided to put the D3 up for sale.
I think anyone who wants a winter project who is handy with the spanners/electrics could get this back up and running and have a fab car for green laning or swap out the engine from this car into another as it really is sweet.
Happy for anyone to come and view it and see it fired up/even take it round the block, I’m looking for £1300 as I’m leaving the sump guard/sliders/rubber mats etc in which I could sell separately but would prefer to all go together.

There’s more money to be made from stripping (the car that is) than selling to be repaired but ideally would like it to go to a new home where it will put put to use again and keep the D3 legacy alive.General Grabber AT3's
