Sunroof drain : fixed, and feedback on personal experience
So, big thanks to all on the forums, and also massively to my mate who helped me with this, no chance I could have done it otherwise.
Background is a 2005 Discovery 3 HSE. Just bought it a week ago and started noticing the passenger footwell getting very damp.
Tried the A pillar repair kit in first place as one if the trims rattled (here
However, water still gathered in the floor pan wiring channel by the passanger door that very night as it rained.
Followed the advice in LA-501-012 to trace leak, and isolat3d it to sunroof drain pipe elbow being split; big thanks to the community here for helping narrow that down quickly.
Thankfully it’s a new issue. Carpet and underlay undamaged, no smell, and no condensation. Suspect the previous owner triggered the issue when cleaning the car for sale, so it wasn’t recognised.
The fix was to follow the advice in the linked technical bulletin, and assisted by this youtube video
Part ordered was EEH-500100
Now, we found the design has changed, and the elbow now has a connection spigot joining it to the hose.
This means that if your existing nose is ok, after removing the old elbow, you can simply push the new elbow onto it instead of removing the A pillar trim and headlining.
It’s s lot quicker.
Now the question I have is this.
Initially I found the part I needed was eeht00120.
Difference is that costs £4.00 whereas the other one is £15.
When I went to order it was told that eeh500120 is for the range rover sport, but the £15 was disco 3
However is the only part is needed is the elbow and connection spigot, then It’s a helluva lot cheaper to get this part.
Anyone tried fitting the ehh 500120 to their LR3s?
Kind regards
Andy

I was always told to look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves. Not wasting money finding best deals are what helped me buy my disco certainly not going to be rich with tax and mpg but there are no pockets in a shroud
Looking at drain tubes on my to do list a bit of PPM.

I'm with the OP, why spend £15 when you can spend £4?

I bought the whole assembly. I did consider changing the end after I bought the assembly (I couldn't remove it) but was happy that I changed the lot. Most of the work was removing the CJB (and the sun visor!)
I would hate to do the job twice.

Thanks all for the responses, and appeciate the comments.
@PMJ, how long ago did you replace yours?
Part of the purpose of this was that the design of the drain has changed in that there is now the inline connector at the junction with the elbow.
So, for me, it came apart easily.
Absolutely agree with you that I’m taking a slight gamble on not replacing the whole thing, but the rubber of the tube itself seemed in very good condition, and most reports limit themselves to the elbow perishing.
That said, if I run in to trouble later, I still have the new drain hose that I can drop in.
The other observation being, despite the advice in the notices, not worth bothering with pulling the wheel arch liner back as it’s a waste of time. Just do all the internal stuff and replace the elbow.
Now, I’m still interested in part eeh-500120 just to know if that is the same or not, or at least if the elbow is the same with a different length hose. Info on the ebay sites seems to suggest that the eel-500120 part fitted the LR3 as well as the RRS, and okay it may only be £11 extra, but why pay more if it works and it’s landrover original?

Did mine Nov16. I didn't find it too bad of a job, considering my hands are the size of dinner plates, but I think I was lucky as the CJB went back in first time.
Still had the leak with the air intake which required an "beak" to be added. Happy to report no more leaks.
I think the two parts were bonded on my replacement part, rather than push fit.

Hi PJM,
Interesting you say bonded. All the photos I saw suggested the same.
The part that arrived tho had the connector as shown in my photo; the white spigot end being the end pulled out of the hose. That’s why I put the post up, to highlight the change and it’s ptoential benefit.
My original on was bonded, but separated from the hose easily; age I guess.
TBH, we should have probably trimmed ithr hose back a few centimetres to accommodate the deferent design, but no stress on hose or elbow after fitting it so we just put everything back.
You say your CJB went back in first time, but got to ask, how the hell did you refit the two connectors on the back of the board?
Took us over an hour to figure out a technique, and even that was clunky.
