Stuck for choice bbs, gap iid, Lynx.
Can any one shed any light on these and approximate costs. I was all set to buy a Nanocom for my 06 D3 when I was advised that the GAP IID BT is possibly better. Had a look and seen that I have to get one from my local Britpart dealer. Now having spoke to them they say you'd be better of with a Lynx system as used by a local derbyshire specialist so I don't know what to do now for the best. What I want to achive is.
Correct and set suspendion hight
Update bluetooth module for iPhone
Update software to later version
Install 4x4 info on nav screen
Unlock nav on the move
Possibly maybe tv on nav screen too.
Also are they all locked to 1 vin ?
So Folks which way do I turn please.
Thanks Dave

First bit is easy - not the Lynx.
Nanocom vs BT IID Tool is probably the only real decision.

Thanks mate that's one down then. I shall mention that I have an Autel maxidas that does a few things service and handbrake a few bits of suspension but nothing in any depth. The nanocom seems cheap with the 20% off plus no vat, I'll buy it through my business.
IID BT is only an option if you have an iPhone 4S or later, ipad 3 or later or some of the later android devices with the correct bluetooth version, so check that before you consider it as an option Altox GSM FBH controller thread

From what I can see the nanocom will flash more ecu's with updated software etc. but it's not the easiest to use. You could make a hash of it!
The iid tool backs up all original settings should you go one step to far, but as far as I can see will not update all modules like gearbox software.

Probably worth clarifying that the BT IID Tool still works without an Apple or Android device connected.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Mine has a manual box if that makes a difference. I do have iphone 5 maybe 6 soon also iPad mini.
What is the difference between IID BT and IID Pro?
I had been looking on comments who uses what and mikey was mentioned to me previously as knowing his stuff but a lot have more than one tool, most have IID of sorts and some have faultmate or nanocom which are both BBS are they not. Multi vin would be handy for poss resale or to earn its keep. Didn't ask enough questions when I bought my last tool and got caught out a little so what to be sure this time, especially as I want to change settings and CCF with it. I have watched tutorials on BBS and it seemed straight forward is that not the case then? The IID single vin is £50 cheaper and apparently support is great. Any novices who have experience with one it's also my first 4x4 so I'm still getting used to it as they are bit of kit really once you start getting involved more.

Gearbox can be done with the IID Tool - but you have to know what hardware is in your gearbox - it is possible otherwise to upgrade the firmware to a version that the hardware is not designed to work with.
As far as I can see, there are not many ECU upgrades that you would routinely do (If any) that the IID tool can't do.
The bluetooth module in the phone/tablet has to be something like V4 and support the low power profile (Forget the actual name )
I'm sure the apple app will catch up with the Android app once the android one gets released. One thing that I do like with the Android version is that if the Bluetooth is turned off, it will turn it on if required - the Apple version just tells you its off and you have to manually turn it on. That might well be a limitation of the OS though Mark.

The IIDTool BT and the IIDTool Pro are effectively the same tool, albeit the Pro has more internal memory.
Both tools operate the same way and have the same features. Both tools are 'VIN-free' when it comes to diagnostic functions, live data and fault code resets. Both tools can also be used on more than just one LR model (ie you can use the tools on both a D3 and D4). No other comparable tool allows such freedom.
Where they differ is with more advanced functions such as CCF editing. With the BT version this is VIN-locked to the vehicle you register it to. If you want to add another vehicle then that costs about £50. If you sell a vehicle and upgrade to another compatible vehicle it costs about £25. The Pro version is not locked to any vehicle in any mode. As the internal memory is larger it can store more vehicles on the tool too.

Yes, all the IIDTools will do all the things on your list, with the BT version offering more display and usability options and the Pro adding the option of working unrestricted on any vehicle currently covered.
The software for ECUs etc are stored on the tool itself. There is none of this faff locating and downloading the individual file needed for each vehicle and model; you carry them with you so no internet connection is required if doing this away. The IIDTool itself is updated periodically via a USB lead connected to a regular computer via a very simple updater program. The iOS app is updated via the Apple App Store.
