Yes I change to the normal grill during the warmer months. I change when I change from winter to summer tyres or summer to winter. You are not supposed to use the winter grill above a certain temperature, 14-15 C I think. There is a technical bulletin. I have it somewhere so I will check if I can find it.

CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation: A customer may report a concern that the engine fails to start and or lacks power in low ambient temperatures with relatively high humidity that may be accompanied with a 'restricted performance' message displayed in the instrument pack message center. Appendix 2 - Range Rover - 4.4 TDV8 Appendix 3 - Range Rover Sport - 3.0 TDV6

NOTE: Fitment of the intercooler blanking pieces is required to reduce cooling system performance in cold ambient air temperatures. With blanking pieces fitted full vehicle capability is maintained up to 15 degrees C ambient air temperature. Above this temperature normal vehicle usage (excluding arduous towing and off road driving) is possible up to 25 degrees C although some degradation of the air conditioning system performance may be experienced. If the vehicle is used outside of these parameters with the blanking pieces left in place, the driver will be warned via the coolant temperature gauge that the engine temperature is above normal and will enter a 'self protection mode' which will restrict vehicle performance until normal system temperatures are resumed. It is therefore recommended that the blanking pieces should be removed where ambient air temperature is regularly in excess of 15 degrees C or where the vehicle requires higher cooling system performance (such as for arduous towing or arduous off road driving). Advise the customer as necessary with reference to the information above and update the vehicle repair history as appropriate.
Action: Should a customer express concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below.
Cause: Upon removal of the lower intercooler hoses fitted between the secondary or primary turbo charger and intercooler there is evidence of compacted ice and or excessive water in the lower portion of the intercooler. In addition there may be engine related fault codes stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that require diagnosis and fault code clear, however if there are no signs of ice or water in the intercooler it is likely that the DTC(s) have been generated by an alternative on board diagnostic routine that is not as a result of restricted airflow due to ice formation.
Suggested Customer Concern Code D42.

I haven’t had any issues with the temp but will definitely change for this summer. Feels very old school having to change it, but it’s a easy job so I don’t bother.

i took the viscous fan off mine in the winter - means you have less for the engine to turn around, less noise in the morning from the viscous unit and also it heats up quicker - never had a problem when towing or with it heating up even on warmer spring days and towing up to 3tons around town or on longer journeys. The air con however wasn't effective in traffic but didn't neccasarily need it when it was this cold anyway.

Just put a bit of card behind the top grill, on the right side/half
make cut outs so it hangs off the grill mounting clips
