Thats a shame. If It would have put an end to wrongly fitted filters.

"You can't get thicker than an oil filter fitter" - as they nearly said in the adverts. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Thank goodness for this forum. I will keep doing the oil changes at 7500 miles. If you lay on the engine and shine a torch into the place where you fit the filter, you can see the hole that the spigott goes it at about 7 oclock. Without the torch I thought is was trying line line it up with what looked like a hole at 5 oclock. Narpy torch came to rescue. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Guess what chaps, just clicked up 49000 miles and engine sounds like a cement mixer full of bricks,
cars in at dealers awaiting LR instructions, 8 year old now but does have a full LR service history, only done 300 miles since last service,
I have my fingers crossed for some kind of good outcome,
car has an extended warranty with WD, so between LR and WD hopefully I won't have to reach to deep into my pocket,

Will keep you posted on the outcome.

So much for advanced manufacturing |
|
Didn't even employ Poka-yoke or FMEA.
Badly engineered. It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

Had my D4 in our local LR garage Lloyds of Kelso for a service. A week later I just happened to look under the car to find an oil leak.
Took the covers off and the whole rear of the engine & bell housing was covered in oil. Straight back to the garage and it turned out the filter o ring was not seated right.
So a week of running at possibly the wrong oil pressure? Makes you wonder.
