Not sure how some people can still trust or think certain things
So more taxes plus some wishfull thinking on the Brexit dividends and economy growth after Brexit

Quote:
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Hunt said the "exact details" of how the increase would be funded "will be announced in the budget".

He said: "We won't be paying subscriptions to Brussels... but that alone won't be anything like enough."

Alongside taxation, Mr Hunt said money for the funding boost could also come from economic growth.

Tax rises are going to be needed if we want the NHS to be funded long term. That, or we forego a shed load of military spending.

Actually, I'd say drop Trident's replacement, maintain/increase slightly the rest of the military funding and spend the nuclear money on "good" stuff. If there's an absolute need for nuclear weapons - and other than to keep us (our leaders, anyway) in the Security Council permanent members' club, I'm not sure there is - then strap a small nuke to the front of a modified Storm Shadow. It'll be useless but then so is Trident (in so far as it'll never be used and thus is useless).

If we don’t tackle obesity and T2 diabetes then we can keep pupping money in and it will still not be enough. Diabetes and it’s co morbidities currently consume at least 10% of the NHS budget and its totally avoidable.

I personally would support added taxation for NHS (growing population, people live longer, always going to 'break' at some point?).

However it has to be balanced with controls on spending; not buying aspirin or latex gloves for fifty quid has to be a start.

Not just give more money to mask the waste but to be incremental and reducing the waste.

Agree it is not just about putting money in it. People needs to understand that a lot of savings can be done by not wasting money for things that can be avoided

UK will need to sort out an extradition treaty with the EU as the European Arrest Warrant scheme will no longer be available post-Brexit.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-44532500

Quote:
[…]not likely to go down well with the UK's Brexit Secretary David Davis, who earlier this month singled the European Arrest Warrant out as one of the cornerstones of post-Brexit security co-operation with the EU.

Mr Barnier said "facts have consequences" and the UK's decision to leave the EU and its single market meant things could not stay the way they were now.

He said the UK's decision to opt out of free movement rules and largely end the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice "means that the UK cannot take part in the European Arrest Warrant".

That'll be another cornerstone of the Davis's / Govt's Brexit strategy gone then. How many cornerstones are left, I wonder... Rolling Eyes

At what point will people look at all the things (and more) that are starting, have and will happen, change, get screwed up and dispassionately review GB leaving the EU?

Cutting off your nose to spite your face springs to mind throughout

It would be nice to see positives come out of leaving Europe - not theoretical but actual...right now there are real negatives but no positives...i cant help but think any positives will only be as good as what we have now at best, best case scenario.

Because sticking it to Johnny Foreigner and keeping the backbench happy is more important than securing a meaningful future for the country. Crying or Very sad

This is a sentiment I hear a lot from my daughters friends. As far as they are concerned they will be taking us back in when they are in power.

That’s a first... the youth of Today have more sense than their elders and would reverse Brexit. Although if Airbus and a few more large corporations are driven out of the UK by Brexit then today’s youth will follow and emigration will be the norm. There is a song here in Ireland about youth emmigration, a line goes “ our best asset is our best export too”
