IMHO I don’t really think it’s about "The greenhouse effect" it’s about money, there’s a fair chance that if you drive a new large 4x4 you will pay up. However the country side support community that drive 4x4's the tax will simply cripple them.
The people who have to drive older more polluting cars often quite simply have the money so why tax them more go the soft easy target US!

There is a very simple technique of taking CO2 out of the atmosphere by dumping iron filings into the nutrient poor areas of he oceans. This triggers inorganic carbonate precipitation which seals CO2 up in the muds 4km down on the ocean floor. Why it is not looked at seriously - no idea! Perhaps if we did this governments would not have a stick to beat us over the head with, we would not have this particular headache.

That's precisely why they won't / don't do it! It really hacks me off when the taxation system is used as a 'cure' for various ills The taxation system is an instrument to raise money for the government, nothing more, nothing less. Paying more tax on purchases doesn't offset any alleged impact on anything!

Exactly, climate change (which has happened since the start of the Hadean time of the planet 4.5 billion years ago) in the new stick since we were all going to get wiped out by the millenium bug which replaced the cold war! Politicos need a whipping stick to keep us undercontrol & screw taxes out of us. Someone has got to pay for the mess in Iraq!

Would that be registered this month - 06 or next month 56?
Plus despite the superb economic picture painted by HM Goverment I think the automotive sector is not having it so easy! Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"
