Hot rear os wheel
Just back from a short drive.
Got a bit of a smell when I got out.
Touched the rear os wheel and it was hot [all others are ok].
Spat through the wheel spokes onto the disc and got a sizzle.
Sounds [and smells] to me as if the pads are rubbing on the disc.
Shouldn't be the EPB cos I don't use it.
MPG is down a bit, but I put that down to running with my half rack & lights.
Any other further thoughts/experiences?I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Sticking brake piston looks favourite I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Probably is the brake shoes binding, but if you dont use the EPB why would they , mine did this and it was the EPB module not releasing them properly, done under warrenty.

ronp, sounds like my caliper problem.
take the wheel off and see how tight the disc is to turn. press the pads back in a bit a check again. if there is a noticable difference then it is most likely the caliper sticking. if its still stiff then probably the EPB.
If it was the bearings you should have noticed a noise build up of the last few hundred miles.
if it is the caliper, i had a new caliper, set of pads and a set of discs all done under warrantyDuncan

Thanks all.
Just read your thread Dunc [thanks SJR].
Plenty of info there for a fix,
though sticking piston seems favorite.
Unfortunately though, mine's well out of warranty.

Time to see how good that AA warranty is then I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Just checked my AA policy.
It does state that calipers are covered.
However, holding my breath.
I'll see what it is first.
Then ...fingers crossed.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

same as disco-mikey, had the same identical issue, epb shoes over adjusted on one side, when you take the wheel off, gently tap the drum with a rubber mallet, you'll hear the shoes disintergrating if they havent already
before that you'll notice the exterior of the drum is discoloured, redish brown which will also confirm the brake shoes

you get exactly the same discoloration if the caliper sticks. Best advise is take the wheel off and check... Duncan
