MTR boys look away now

A little story for you. Once upon a time there was a big 4x4 with big off road tyres called MTRS. These boys could go anywhere! Well on a nice sunny day, the boys were having a little trip down a green lane when they came across some mud.

Leave it to me says the MTR driver with his off road tyres on and leads the way. And with that he is away and making good progress until....oh no!...he gets stuck!.....but not to worry, because he has his mate with him who also has MTRs on and a strap...so mate to the rescue!

Well anyway, the two MTR clad 4x4s are now lashed together and doing something most impressive.......having all eight wheels rotating in unison and not moving an inch!

Now, watching all this, was a road tyre clad D3, who was behind these two MTR clad cars......and to get a closer look he drives down the lane up to the stranded 4x4's before making a friendly wave and driving past them!!!! Rolling with laughter

But being a caring, sensitive soul, he decided not to drive away and instead backs up to the stranded vehicle, throws the towing line over his tow hook, and pulls them out....and all this on Pierreli zeros!

I was that man in the middle of the grassy knoll! The lane in question was pretty tame so any challenging bit a went for. I could have gone round it but decided to give it a go, my sidesteps/rock sliders dug in the side of the rut and acted like a plough(photos will fellow I'm sure). Anyway MT/R's still rule and I wouldn't like to do any serious rock crawl on standard tyres so there Ner Ner

Having watched Lee's tyres getting folded back on themselves up past the rim without popping I can vouch for the toughness of the MTR's,(happy valley) it's easier to get unstuck than have to change a wheel on a tight down hill stretch.

Mind if Lee and his D3 weren't so fat he could have probably used scorpions Whistle

Scorpions are surprisingly capable off road ...I used them for the first year of ownership on my first D3 and they got most places others did around Boughrood, Yarwell, Tixover and a famous run up Chapel Gate 8) Popping 2 though in a flint strewn lane was the real catalyst for changing to MTR's ....ohh yeah ...well 'ard Whistle

Got to agree with the two Andys

I think it is all about the skills of the driver Laughing In fact its nothing to do with the tyres. Do you agree Lee ? Wink

Although Willy Eckerslike may have a good point, as I did notice that the lighter vehicles did not get stuck

It's not the lack of skill in getting stuck ...it's applying the skill to get out again Wink
