MTR's win my vote, note just on Grip, but on survivorbility with flint and sharp stones.....
Just look at the condition of this road surface, it just spells out Punctures
After Salisbury at Easter, MTR's survived the flint easily, unlike a few road biasd tyre options

Mike upload the picture of me stuck and I think it will reveal that it was the near side sidestep that caused the problem, I had a fair idea what was going to happen next when a proceeded. Never had to be recovered in the past so I think I can say I'm a competent driver, I would not have attempted it if out on my own though. I've always said that a decent road tyre will get you most places that an off-road tyre will but they will not offer the side wall protection or allow you to run at low psi without damaging them. ISTR that you once borrowed a set of MTR's off me for a previous excursion is this right? Good job really as another member of that party pushed his road tyre off the rim. Don't go dissing the almighty MTR's gaylord or I'll tell everyone about you dressing up as Christopher Biggins!Club Exped trailer

Well if you insist Lee, but I think it will undermine your sidestep argument

I've done Salisbury on Zeros without punctures - rims got a bit scratched and I got a few slice marks on side walls but neither mattered as they were put away in the garage until the day the car was handed back
Even without the durability factor, MTR's just look so C 8) 8) LSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I recently got stuck on Salisbury with my MTRs - jumped out, dropped the pressures slightly, jumped back in and drove out - no problem. Adapting to different terrain is easier with MTRs. I then had to pull out my mate's SJ from the same hole - extremely satisfying....'05 HSE, Tonga Green, G4 Expo rack, G4 ladder, 19" MTRs, RRS S/C Brembos and rear brakes, JE Stage 1 tune, ITG Pro filter, Black/silver badging, loadspace slider.

Unfortunately not, to be honest I prefer a bit more sidewall on an MTR its when the sidewalls get pinched that most of the damage occurs, and on the very positive side rims and tyres are about half the price of 19s. I do run 19" as well but the Kumhos aren't too bad noise wise and grip well on the black stuff.
Total cost of these was £82 for the rims (with Wranglers) on fleabay & under a one'er per tyre fitted.... 8)TDV6 HSE - Light Guards - White Reflective Sticker

Well, Simon, sorry, someone got stuck today on AT2s while little old Delilah Defender romped through on her BFG MTs... and pulled him out. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

More sidewall definately better for offroad - I have 750 16" on my series II for proper greenlaning - I'm fitting Brembos to the D3 next week so won't be able to fit smaller wheels with more aggressive tyres - I'm sure MTRs will suffice for level of dirt it'll be exposed to. Khumos kick ass though!!'05 HSE, Tonga Green, G4 Expo rack, G4 ladder, 19" MTRs, RRS S/C Brembos and rear brakes, JE Stage 1 tune, ITG Pro filter, Black/silver badging, loadspace slider.
