What makes a massive difference on a fill up? are you talking about a software patch, turbochip or some of the premium diesel mentioned on another thread
The engine just seems to 'loosen' up significantly. Goes faster too - used to only like cruising up to 75-77mpg. Now loves to go 85 - I have to keep slowing her down!

That's great economy.

Yeah - I've got a great big sail that I hoist out of the sunroof when I get up to speed - a bit like James May on Top Gear last week
To be honest, G and H are right next to each other on the keyboard - meant to say 75-77mph, not mpg.

I know the problem, referred to my wiFe as the wiDe on rrsport.co.uk , "whata mistaka to maka" as the Italians would say!
Mixed driving; city motorway and back roads averaging 27 to 27.2 mpg. putting the AC on now and then doesn't seem to effect average. Try to drive at 2000 revs as much as possible changing down the gears as necessary as recomended in a post here. Sometimes lose the run of myself and race the boy racers at the lights. Brings fuel economy down but reduces frustrations.'05 Silver Commercial S+ gone but never forgotten

Few hundred miles today, mainly motorway with an indicated average of 32.2 - and that's with the aircon on and a expo rack oh, and supermarket fuel as well, mind you, due to the traffic, the average speed was 60 - 65

must admit, mine usually hovers around the 25 mark - quite happy with that as it does get some 'pedal to the metal' moments

Point of order - 1.25 - US Gallons like ours are still 8 pints - its just that their pint is 16 fl.oz unlike our proper 20 fl.oz pint - the quart measure is quite popular in the US - which is very close to 1 litre Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
Mine's just crept up to 21mpg It did get worked very hard off-road at the weekend though and I probably used a gallon or two just to power the winch alone!
Road mpg is normally around 27 nowadays as I do too many short journeys. Even with all the kit on I can still easily got over 30mpg on longer runsThe End
