Injectors don't dilute oil. Rings and bore wall manage that for you.

Local dealer to me fitted new engine under warranty which failed at a later date due to leaking injectors, landrover refused second claim saying that they should have been overhauled at the same time, not sure if it was still under warranty or not!

Can't blame him tho '. You gotta have trust in a car. I wouldn't have one for my daily runaround if I was honest.

don't see why you cant create an "indent" on the main bearing caps only...if half the shell is held the other half cant rotate surely

Do you really want to weaken the bottom end even more with a new hole and possible stresses caused by fitting a dowl which if it moved even slightly would score the crank or fall out,l think that although some engines might be flawed the designers that made them were not complete fools and if it needed a dowel would have fitted one, just my opinion.

I don't see it weakening it as it is trapped by the top part of casting and shell therefore there will be no leaks
at present it runs like a sweety I have no confidence in this immaculate piece of design after joining this forum! I should have joined before wasting my cash
As for the manufacturer here's your answer what stops the shells revolving nothing! Wow that's really clever. Therefore if they are that clever then it must be deliberate.

I might have a fiendish plan. I bought the one on the right from my folks when they bought the one on the left. Unfortunately they didn't take the hint about going for Waitrose Grey but white is growing on me. Whistle If that goes ahead it'll be my 18th and prob last LR. Now that will be sad. Sad

PS And she has been washed since that pic was taken a year ago. Once!! Laughing

My point intirely I'm not talking a dowel from a b&q kitchen just enough to stop a shift and so keeping the oilways clear got to be worth a try and a Hellaffa lot cheaper than a new engine

I was thinking along the lines of the old style indent rather than a dowel
