I have just purchased the black short rails, tried to pull the scrivets out from the black trim covers and the first one snapped straight away I even had to damage the trim to enable me to get anything in under the cap! I'm not even going to try and remove the others until I figure a away out of removing the broken stem of the scrivet.
As someone on this thread has already stated, this si a bad design. I'll now have to purchase some short trim covers to cover my and then try to remove the other scrivets. I work at JLR so i'm going to make some calls on monday and try to find out how they do this at work, ther must be a way of doing this without all this hassle!
It must be the look of the draw as my friend fitted some the other week and it took him half an hour with no issues!

I've been asking around at work and i've found a way to get the scrivets out. Using a (plastic) trim removal tool, start to raise the scrivet "top" so you end up with two "wings". In fact you end up bending the top face of the scrivet. Once they are bent up enough, just simply use these "wings" and unscrew them by hand...took me 5 mins to do all of them (apart from the one I snapped the other day). Disco 3 2.7D GS Auto

Well I have to admit that after the saga and the requirement of an air jet to get the plastic out of the nut holes, plus my concern at the size of the screws, I booked it in to get them done at the garage. Just got it back and confirmed broken screw removed, all plastic remnants removed and screws all fitted at the correct torque. I just wanted peace of mind as I would never forgive myself if a load fell off and killed someone
Just paid the bill so no wine until the weekend now Well apart from the free mini bar in the hotel I am staying at for the next two nights

Hi guys, just joined because of this same problem.
I have bought Thule Aerobars with the fitings for something called T-Profile - the nice man from Halfords told me they would fit straight on!
Do I need these rails before the Aerobars will fit?
Do the rails make it a T-Profile?
Thanks,
Ian.

Yes The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
