Suspension Calibration with Autel AP200

Hi all.
This is my first post on the site so looking for some advice.

I purchased the Autel AP200 diagnostic after reading on the forum that it would calibrate the height sensors on the discovery 3 and I was not really keen on throwing £400-£500 on the Gap IID tool.

Anyway, Has anyone any experience they can pass to me about how to change the values for the sensors.
The landrover software has been downloaded onto it and I'm able to access the menu screen for the suspension calibration but all figures are reading 0. The only thing I can appear to do with it is move a slider bar at the bottom of screen between the left and the right but nothing appears to change.
The suspension is currently sitting way off where it should be so the vehicle is completely undrivable at present.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Thanks Pete K

I read all the posts you linked me to but still no further forward with it.

My problem is with entering the values as there does not appear to be any way for me to do this.

Could it be that as my suspension is so far out of calibration that this tool will not even look at it?
Is it normal for the readings to be showing 0 at each wheel when you enter the calibration screen even though they are way off the recommended?

If anyone else can advise the procedure for entering the values on this I'd be grateful.

Hi you gone onto the service menu , then suspension , then the height setting , once selected what screen does it bring up ? , should show a few paragraphs of info then tell you to start engine and the cross valve should open , does display on dash with a beep ?

It’s been a while as I bought a GAP tool not long after, and I’ve been through my photos from the past. This is the screen you need to find

Then click height calibration on a very flat and level surface. If you’re well out of whack you may have to do a lot of mental maths (pen and paper handy) and do it a few time with some rolling back and forths to get into the ball park, before nailing the final height. I remember it being very prone to failing and having to try again with a slightly different measurement. Must have taken me a dozen goes, with breaks to let the compressor cool.
The car knows how far it’s moved, the Autel knows how far it’s moved and your measure know how far it’s moved and they all need to agree for it to work.

Good luck!

Thanks Thommo805 and Shealesy for your input.
I'll use this advice next chance I get to see if I can progress further with it.

Fingers 🤞.

Will update my post again with the progress.

Thanks meantime. 👍

Ok so had another crack at this today to see if I could get to the bottom of it once and for all.
From the services menu I have gone onto suspension and then selected height calibration which then highlights in red but nothing happens. The only way I can get any further is if I go to live values and that then let's me select the individual wheel from a menu. At the end of each box in the menu is an icon of a small spanner and once I click on this it opens up what I would have thought is the screen I require to do the calibration, but all the values for all 4 wheels are reading zero.
When I move the slider bar at the bottom of the screen nothing changes.
Having since emailed customer support about the issue I'm having they have responded by informing me that the AP200 does not support this feature and that I would have to purchase the Autel MK808S as this will do it.
As this is going to set me back about another £400 at least I'm kinda on the fence about it as for not much more I could get the GAP IID from Terrafirma.
I think I will open a new thread about the pros and cons of each of these unless there is something posted about it already.

Thanks for the input I received though.

Well yes, for £400 + get the gap.

Did you have the ignition on?
Do you have the white Autel ?

I tried it with ignition on, and also with engine running but no joy.

Yes it's the white Autel I have.

Very odd. I have definitely calibrated the EAS with my Autel, as has a friend of mine with his, but I’m aware there are different versions of the MaxiAP200, red, white and varying levels of capability within each colour range.. Maybe they’ve removed the only reason we bought them Confused

At £400, just buy the GAP IID. Like I said in my original comment, I had the Autel but soon bought the GAP (it was after borrowing one and purchasing a VIN license for it to sort my TCCM, had to have one so bought my own). I’d guess at it being just a few months between my purchases. Kept the Autel for the other cars I have to deal with Thumbs Up

Thanks Shealesy,

Looks like the Gap will be the one I'm gonna have to lay my money to in order to get the job done.
Out of curiosity which Autel did you own? Was it the red or the white version?
I think you could have a valid point there in that they no longer support this with the AP200 model in hope that people will make a more expensive purchase with one of their higher end models.
Anyways aside from not managing to do the main thing I purchased it for it still seems a pretty decent tool for its money even if it has its limitations...

Mine is the white MaxiAP200, a friend bought the same. He borrows my GAP IID on occasion too, whenever were in the same postcode area Laughing

The little Autel is definitely good for the money, just the ability to read all the codes is a major plus point. A lot of very expensive readers can't do what that little Autel can do, and nor can they do what the (relatively) inexpensive GAP tool can do.

Yeah this is true.
I think that even when I do get round to purchasing the GAP IID I will still hang onto the Autel!
