Just got my D4 today - help with Iphone 5s / Bluetooth / USB
Hi,
First post regarding my new D4 which I picked up today. I spent this evening trying to get my iPhone 5s to connect to the D4 without luck.
I can select 'Landrover' on the iPhone and enter the code - its pairs according to the iPhone
I don't get any bluetooth icon on the D4 display...all I get is 'Device error' on the display
I've removed it from the iPhone, restarted the iPhone, entered code and paired - same issue
I've tried to connect the iPhone using the USB cable (genuine Apple) - nothing , apart from 'Device error'
I am able to see my phone book, recent calls etc on the display though when I select phonebook.
The software on the phone exceeds that mentioned on the LR site and the iPhone 5s is supported after referencing it against my VIN.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advancecheers,

My iPhone has worked perfectly with the disco but after the latest update it's not playing ball. This might be your problem so I am just waiting patiently for the next update.
Would be interesting to see if any others have the same issue.

I have a MY11 D4 too and my iPhone 5 works fine over Bluetooth.
You won't see any Bluetooth icon on the console touch screen though (at least I've never noticed one). Have you deleted the pairing of all phones on the D4 ?
When I got my 'new' MY11 in Jan I hit all the reset options I could find to clear out all the previous owners stuff - POI's in the Nav, phones paired etc.

@Khauff - Im on version 7.1 (11D167) - updated to it last week.
@Simon - yes, good idea. It still has all the previous owners routes in the Nav so a reset cant hurt. Can you play music over the Bluetooth Simon. I'm reading some posts say you can and some say you can't....?cheers,

Not on the MY11 with Bluetooth streaming no. MY12 onwards I think.
I just use an old iPod plugged into the iPod socket (not the USB socket) in the centre cubby. Just leave it there. If you get the iPod integration cable (£25 I think) and a Dock connector to Lightning adaptor you can use this wired solution for your 5S.
iOS 7.1 should work fine.
I wanted to have my iPhone visible (have a Brodit mount) as I use TomTom for iPhone (far better Nav than the LR one).

On a MY2011 you need a special cable to connect your Iphone to the car, one like this and an adapter

This should work - if this is what you bought does it physically not fit ?
Personally I would buy original Apple lightning cables (expensive I know) as they are licensed correctly (there is a chip inside that vouches its authenticity). Cheap non Apple licensed cables either fail to work or will probably fail after the next iOS update.
But it doesnt physically fit the Ipod socket in the MY11 - its to fat.cheers,

I've just bought genuine LR cable from a forum member. This for a iPhone 4 though so'll I'll need a micro to connect it to the iPhone 5s... more connectors lolcheers,

Ah, well that should connect to the LR iPod cable and then allow you to plug in the iPhone 5. The smaller adaptor I posted will do the same thing, its just smaller.

Yes, I was wondering that. I'll have a cubby box full of cables. At least I haven't wasted my money on the 30 pin unit.cheers,

Well you need the LR cable regardless and hopefully the Apple cable will allow you to connect the phone.
Failing that, just use an old iPod in the centre box and just leave it in the D4 - thats what I do. I use my phone on a Brodit mount and attach via Bluetooth. Then have visibility on TomTom, use of Siri, Weather apps, mapping apps and I can see messages (respond via Siri if need be).
Best of both worlds then.
