Shop around, MacRae & Dick in Inverness has quoted me £233.52, it is going in Friday.
I had been quoted as much as £389 in Aberdeenshire. I could not get any of the dealerships to price match MacRae & Dick.
So a nice day out planned in Inverness on Friday. What I am saving on the service I am sure SWMBO will spend in the shops.
Well MacRae & Dick were as good as there word, they serviced the car, gave me a new D3 XS for the day and completed a whole host of warrantee work (inc squealing EPB) for the agreed £233.52
My only grumble was they agreed to do the service bulletin regarding sat nav destination on the move (TSB LTB 00044). When I picked it up the girl said it was done, on the drive home I clearly was not done Next time may be... for £233 I cant really complain, they had fixed 7 other warrantee things.

Well I dropped my D3 off at Lookers this morning and was given an FL1 for the day, dreadful thing for a man of my size.
Lost count of how many times I've banged my head.
Got a call saying I need new front pads @ £140 and then was told that I also needed new wipers @£42 + vat!!!!
I know Ford need a few quid but hang on I cant do it all myself! FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

Just collected mine and paid £260, thought that was very reasonable considering what I have been reading here and the normal excessive costs we have to pay in the Channel Islands2012 D4 - SDV6 XS - Firenze Red

Pretty typical, as when I went to collect the car an important business call came through on the mobile so I handed my card over whilst on the phone. Next thing I'm sitting in the car showing them the speakers rattle which they couldn't get them to do. They also couldn't do anything about the gap in the trim between the door panel and the upright trim to the rear of the windows.
So they didn't do anything that I asked them to do really.
Then when I got home I took a look at the receipt ............................
£230 service
£50 brake pads
£107 parts
£280 labour
£80 Vat
£544 total.
I got on the phone straight away and was told Gary would call me back.
He didn't.
So if I've paid for parts and labour what is the charge of £230 for the service?
Gary will be getting a call first thing in the morning, which may or may not be followed by a visit.
I am a fairly big guy and do, when pushed have a pretty short fuse. It hasn't been lit for a long time................ until now.

Well I've just spoken to Gary at Lookers, he put his hands up straight away and is posting the credit and ammended invoice to me today.
I am disappointed that they couldnt fix the trim and speaker problems but I'll try elsewhere next time along with the wipers etc.
I did complain that my Sat Nav went dim on a couple of occasions but they told me this was the car shutting down superfluous ancillaries because the battery was a little low. Where they being honest here? FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

Always thought the battery was to start the car, after that the alternator powered any stuff you've got on. Also the battery is a huge power source, unless it's on its way out then i think they're telling some porkies. However, if you've only done some short journeys and the battery hasn't charged itself up fully then i can understand the logic.... but i stand to be corrected.

There could have been some short kid getting trips, it's only happened once before and that was a couple of months ago. I'll keep an eye on it. FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

A little out of the way, but try Guy Salmon Coventry on the A45.
Got my 1st done there a little while back for less than £325.
Just jumping in on this thread.... my D3 is up for it's 1st service this Thursday at Charles Hurst Land Rover(Belfast) - As we have the luxury of only 2 main dealers (here in N.I., the other one being a two day camel ride away for me) We shall see what we 'over here' in the whopwhops are over charged for getting those very heavy parts shipped here - like oil filters, etc. I will update the forum when completed, should be interesting!
Oh, and no, I haven't bothered asking 'Oily Joe' how much Gov. as here the price is the price, just pay it Mr.! Est-ce que bonjour, vous aime ma nouvelle découverte brillante gentille trois, je pense qu'elle regarde les boules de chiens, pas vous ?

Hi all.
Just got ours back from it's first service, carried out by the local Stratstone, at a cost of £288.15 which seems about average.
Did notice on the drive home that the average MPG had dropped slightly, from 29.2 to 13.7 . All those months of gentle driving wiped out in a few hours.
