Help - Suspension Fault C1A13

Today I got an amber warning light on the dash accompanied by a "Suspension Fault" message in the info display. This was cleared on re-start and was fine for the next journey but then came back again later in the day. Reading the fault codes I see:

FAULT 5 OF 7
ECU: Ride Level
CODE:C1A13
Pressure does not decrease when venting gallery
(INTERMITTENT)

I replaced the compressor with a new AMK unit recently (a couple of months ago) and updated the software to 9H22-14D394-AA. All has been fine since until today.

Tonight I watched the ride height sensors live data as I moved from low -> normal -> off road and they seemed to track as I would expect. The gallery pressure builds to about 1800 (not certain of the units - it's a Nanocom Evolution I'm using) and then drops. It may be taking a while to build to that pressure but it's difficult to say as I've no comparison so may just be my imagination.

Any recommendations where to start looking?

Thanks in advance.

Is that the only fault related to the EAS?

I am still seeing this issue. Cycling the ignition usually clears the fault and the suspension operates normally (except when the orange light is showing when I cannot change ride height).

When the fault happens, I've attached my Nanocom to read the live values and noticed the following:

Fault Present? Gallery Pressure
Yes ...............400kPa (approx)
No ................200kPa (approx)

So it does look like something is preventing the gallery venting fully.

Presumably this could be a faulty compressor but are there any other things I should rule out first?

Battling with a very similar fault just now

Had a dead compressor, replaced, car came up to height, but the yellow warning came on. PRessure does not decrease when venting gallery.

The wiring to the exhaust valve is fairly common, so these wires were overlaid. Fault still present.

Through watching live values, the pressure rarely dropped under 389kPa, then the fault light would illuminate. Swapped the pressure sensor off my own car, and it worked fine (while the customer was standing there Wink ) Refitted his sensor, fault came straight back.

New pressure sensor ordered, came up to height again, then would log the fault, and pressure reading would drop to exactly 389kPa again...

With the sensor unplugged, it would sit at normal height with the light on , and would exhaust itself just fine back to normal ride height

Trying to get back out to it and overlay the wiring to the pressure sensor now and see if that cures it. If not, then it looks like a faulty compressor...

Thanks Mikey. So it looks like I need to check:

1/ Wiring to exhaust valve
2/ Wiring to pressure sensor
3/ Pressure sensor itself (do you have the part #? Does it come with the valve block RVH000046?)
4/ Failing that, it's the compressor

Is that about right?

unable to vent gallery

hi this is my first post
had the same error on my car when selecting access height car would not lower came up with error vehicle obstructed raising to extended height yellow light lit
fault was same "unable to vent gallery"
it was actually the dryer as when the air vents out it goes through the dryer supposedly to rejuvenate the crystals if this is blocked as mine was then it cant vent quick enough

hope this helps

Mikey, when you talk about overlaying the wiring, do you mean all the way back to the ECU?

Been out there today and can't see anything obvious, but it's not faulting regularly today. It seems to be worse in cold weather. Yesterday was much colder - 2/3 degrees - and the fault was there every time I started up.

Short update on where I'm at with this. The car was booked into the local dealer today to have the compressor looked at so I thought I ought to double-check a few things first:

Had the compressor cover off on Saturday and had a good poke around - nothing trapped as far as I could see. The only thing I noticed was the exhaust pipe, where it exits the cover doesn't sit very neatly. I had a play with it but it doesn't seem to have a natural position. There's a bit of foam sort of pressing against it but it doesn't feel like it could be restricting things in any way.

Does anyone have a good photo(s) of the AMK installed and how the exhaust should exit the cover? I should have taken one while I was under there to illustrate what I mean.

I also removed the electrical connections including the one to the pressure sensor and gave them a good spray with contact cleaner. Reassembled, started her up and as soon as I went to off-road hide I got the same fault.

Yesterday I thought I'd better double check the software version in case the 6H22 software was still on there as I'd read exhaust problems mentioned with that and the AMK. Not that - definitely has 9H22. While there I did 3 other things with my Nanocom Evo more as double checks than anything else. I hit the "Set Normal Tolerance" button, just in case it had been left in tight tolerance mode, I hit the "End EAS Enable Process" button and I did a Steering Angle Sensor Calibration (it was reading 1 degree when centred).

Took it for a drive and it was fine. Exercised the suspension up and down a few times on the route and I momentarily got the amber light but this time it was C1A09 which relates to the pressure sensor. Took it for a drive again this morning and no faults.

I did notice that the gallery pressure now sits around 150kPa whereas previously it had been sitting at about 250kPa (and sometimes at 350kPa which triggered the fault).

Can anyone confirm the typical gallery pressure with AMK installed at normal ride height? Is 150kPa about right?

I cancelled the appointment at the dealer as I see no point in them looking at it if the fault isn't present and can't be reproduced. It is a bit warmer today and it seems worse in cold weather. Either I've "fixed" something or it's just waiting to bite me in a day or two. Smile

I just went out and checked mine, I fitted a new AMK compressor a couple of months ago but unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the pipe layout.

Anyway, as to the pressures -
Engine running, car at normal height after minor self-levelling, the Gallery Pressure was 135kpa.
I selected off road height and the GP rose, quickly at first and peaked at 1780, after this it settled back down to 120.
I set it back to normal height and the GP briefly peaked around 300 before lowering back down to about 150.
After this, I turned the engine off and it settled down to 118.

It looks like your GP of 150 seems pretty normal.

Hope this helps Thumbs Up
 Clive

Thank you Clive - that is extremely helpful. I'll do the same test with mine later but the key bits seem to marry up - 1780kPa peak and nominally150kPa at normal height. Thumbs Up

I'll have to take a picture of my exhaust exit and see whether people thing it's okay.

Hi, know this thread is from a while ago. I have a Disco 3 with virtually identical fault codes. did you resolve the problem??? How???
