Have you been able to establish the cause of these snapped cranks?
Thanks in advance.

So far, only ever stripped one engine with a snapped crank, and it was a clean break. No spun bearings, no wear, just stopped dead and wouldn't restart
I have one of these dead 3.0's with me now, which will be stripped for investigation (though it does have 160k, and serviced on the cheap...)
EDIT: Not by me By a local garage. This is the 2nd time I have seen the car, first time was for a pair of turbo's, and he didn't want the extra expense of new filter and fresh oil My D3 Build Thread

My Indie has some good contacts in a couple of the main dealers, and it seems 3 Ltr engines are failing quite a bit more than is first obvious.

1 failure a week is somewhere in the region of 1:865 chance of failure if the wikipedia sales figures (and my maths) are anything to go by

"1 failure a week is somewhere in the region of 1:865 chance of failure if the wikipedia sales figures (and my maths) are anything to go by" - only if every failure is reported here or otherwise taken into account, which I doubt. Am I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

We do seem to be seeing more failures on the 3.0 than the 2.7...
It would be interesting to know the cause of failure, whether a defect in the crank, or spun bearings, and how many failures can be attributed to extended service intervals... My D3 Build Thread
