Whilst one or two of the resignations have come from the left centre of the party the majority have come from the blairite side and it's clearly orchestrated to create maximum pressure with another resignation on the hour. Very tacky IMO.

Are there better candidates for the leader of the Labour Party; certainly but once again they haven't got it. It's about democracy. Their own party membership overwhelmingly voted him in just 9 months ago and this coup was an open secret two months ago at Westminster. They just bided their time until after the referendum to make it look as though there was nothing else the PLP could do.

And don't be fooled because it is no surprise that when Chilcock gives his findings, Corbyn would have gone for the throat of Blair and Straw to name but two but this way they can at worst stifle the critisism or at best simply airbrush it away. Politics is a very dirty business.

Blair will be judged by our grandchildren along with Thatcher as political leaders who made a difference. Cameron was without dout the best man available in recent years, unfortunately he had no credible opposition.
Corbyn was elected by a disillusioned electorate and has proved a disastrous choice, let's hope the Labour Party members replace him with a strong charismatic Prime Minister in waiting. Thumbs Up

Personally I consider this gutless even if it is true. And the reason is that it wasn't written for Jeremy Corbyn but for the news world and that's very sad. This is orchestrated and very far from spontaneous and just watch Tom Watson butcher him tomorrow, because he thinks he's up to the job. And wasn't it fortunate that we saw him break short his trip to Glastonbury, where he posed for photo opportunities whilst bonding with the young and very dirty. Et tu Brute.

I think Corbyn was something different and worth a punt. The rich hated him as he was and remains a threat to them. He has been misquoted in the press (owned by the rich) and by TV (Run by the rich). I have voted Conservative all my adult life but saw no difference in what they do from any other party to date so see no point in continuing to do so. Britain needs to do something different and I think Corbyn has his eye on the piles of money the rich are sitting on and not putting back into the economy. He has my vote. If he can hang on.

Funny thing is I've been blue all of my life until now. I'm not sure I would vote for Corbyn because he's certainly not statesmanlike or particularly articulate but I do think he's relatively honest and that makes him pretty unusual in politics. I have visited parliament many times and have spoken with very many MPs and with the exception of Frank Fields, I have found the majority of them to be self obsessed, inward looking and absolutely filled with their own importance. And they very, very rarely stand their own round too.

At the time of writing Jeremy Corbyn has a petition of Confidence in him signed by ( excluding anyone in Vatican City) of 194,000 people.

Jeremy...

wouldn't have been my first or any number less than two integers choice...
It didn't really seem to matter just after the election but it does right now.

withThe Tory party is in meltdown with Dodgy resigning in 3 months (we hope), George in hiding or abducted by aliens, Boris the MARMITE flavour of the month & all the rest getting ready for the Tory leadership election "bunfight"...which the bookies have already got the runners with odds posted.

...The wrong Miliband looks quite good compared to what we have in place right now.

This next week will be a stonkingley interesting one to watch...
Who do you listen to to ?...certainly not George
Who do you believe ?.....the list is getting shorter
Who do you want to to succeed ?.....it isn't Nicola, George, or Jeremy

Ive tried at the bookies to get a good double bet with Labour & Tory leaders at daft odds....& put some real folding stuff on just as a risky gamble (as all gambles indeed are)...

The longer Jeremy stays the worse it gets as his credibility is dwindling person by person who resigns or gets chopped. The guy has a minus quantity insight.

But with a possible late Autumn General Election......neither party is that prepared
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I want party leaders, of whatever political colour, to be statesmen, as one day they may have to represent us on a world stage - Corbyn isnt a statesman. He looks more like the caretaker. He may be well intentioned and honourable, just not a country leader imho

Alex Cunningham shadow minister for the natural environment has just resigned...

As Pelyma says Labour's Deputy leader Tom Watson has told Corbyn that he no longer commands the confidence of Labour members.

BBC deputy political editor Jack Blanchard says however that Watson did NOT explicitly tell Corbyn to resign, contrary to reports elsewhere (including the BBC).

Surely Corbyn must get the message soon Question

Couldn't agree more, could you imagine a world leaders photo, he would always be stuffed away at the back out of sight.

Although its not necessarily right, appearances do matter, especially at world leader level.

I often hear Corbyn described as "decent, honest and honourable".

Was it honest and honourable to lead a Remain campaign which he clearly did not believe in?

Not in my opinion. He should have been honourable and admitted that he's always been a Euro sceptic and resigned before the campaign got under way. He belongs to the Socialist Labour Party, who supported the Leave campaign.

Should Tom Watson also resign?
