Having been to Skipton about 4 years ago I went 2 weeks ago to LRE at Peckforton castle for a day
Have to say this was much better with a wide variety of terrains, excellent instructor and a great lunch in the castle itself
Overall spent 6 hours driving a D4 and would highly recommend the venue

The Skipton one has changed location recently so you'll need to have another look for a fair comparison.

Our previous experience was fantastic - great driving and lots of it with mixed terrains and fantastic views but very disappointed second time round - reckon we had much less than 4 hours off road in the whole day - suspect a lot is down to the instructor - maybe they took note of the comments I made - hopefully so

If you can fit in with a holiday I would recommend Dunkeld in Perthshire.
Wonderful area. We finished 1000ft above the A9 with snow all around in a Freelander2

How does Honiton compare as a venue? Its the easiest location for me as I can stay for free at the in laws
And is it worth stretching to the full day rather than 1/2 day? How much actual driving do you get to do? How many people in each car? Can you specify what you drive - don't want to end up in an Evoque D4 GS 12MY

Two of us did the full day experience at Eastnor in September. When I booked they agreed we could go out in our car of choice - the D4. (Obviously they reserve the right to change the vehicle due to circumstances outside their control). They also agreed that it would just be the two of us in the car with the instructor at no extra cost. The full day isn't cheap but it does seem very good value compared to the half day given the amount of driving.
Trying to remember how much time we had behind the wheel. After registration there was a safety and technology brief. The instructor then did a demo drive and then we must have both had around 2.5 hours each driving.
You might get lucky and not have to share with anyone - not sure what the premium is to guarantee sole use. There were 4 people doing the full day when we went - 1 went out in a Defender with her under-17 year old son as a passenger. Another guy went out in a D4. And the SO and I went out in a second D4.
Very good instructor who went through the D4 very well.
They have a very small man-made course to show the off road abilities of the vehicles, but the remainder of the time circa 2 hours was effectively spent Green Laneing around a couple of local farms!!
Not really what I was expecting - so couldn't recommend this location.

Defender 90 TD5 Station Wagon - sold
