Just gets better. Won a carpet cleaner on eBay. Arrived today in a soaked cardboard box and half of it missing. Luckily from a dealer not a private seller so got half a chance of getting it swapped for a complete one.

The phrase of the year "sorry sir but due to covid 19 -------"
Great excuse for some lazy people to offer crap service. Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!
Errr, I hate to be the one to tell you but that's not carpet...

Didn't really win it, unless you paid zero for it and had it delivered for free.
Don't really understand why people think they win things on Ebay.

It's a win if you view auctions as competitive and taking skill to bid on the right listing for the product you want, at the right time and judging the number and enthusiasm of other bidders; the other bidders have 'lost' the opportunity to purchase the item; if they have 'lost', the successful bidder must have 'won'!

You know “clean it up” means “quick, sell it before it starts to honk”.

You don't win in an auction, you just buy the item at a higher price than others were prepared to pay. One might more realistically say the seller has won, not you.
S'funny how people get suckered by marketing blurb. In this case it's eBay's blurb.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

it was bad enough the shower playing up ... nearly steam-cleaned my dangly bits last Thursday. Then freeze-dried them on Friday.
ordered the parts and went to fit them today.
the jack-of-all-trades family friend who retiled the bathroom a few years back managed to create a hole in the tile too ing small to get the cartridge out and fit a new one ...
and once I'd drilled enough holes to widen the hole in the tile, found he'd "handily" filled the void with silicon.
should have sussed it wasn't a good choice of tradesman when he delighted in telling us it had taken 3 years to sort out the leaks in the shower he'd put in at home.
