So you'd never advocate any changes from within an organisation, business etc. to improve upon the current situation?

That is precisely why we had to get out, because the EU is incapable of change. An ex-Disco3 / FFRR owner ......

Dyson
Yep.
In the red corner, Dyson, the £5bn self-made man who did indeed move most of his manufacturing to Asia, but employs around 3 times as many people in the UK than BEFORE he moved manufacturing and is investing more than a billion pounds in new facilities and technologies in the UK.
In the blue corner, trade associations, who don't even necessarily represent their members views (e.g. NFU)
That Independent (sic) story is very low-rent.
Love the bit about bacon sarnies.
Other than the majority foreign feed requirements coming from South America, which isn't in the EU last time I looked...and the EU hasn't got trade deals with most of them, we are limited in the amount of non-EU pork we import as the protectionist EU levies tariffs of around 50%.
Oh, and on the subject of manufacturing, have you noticed how HIGH the manufacturing orders and confidence is now?

Sterling has strengthened a little recently but is still down at least 10% against the Dollar since the referendum. So yes it's been good for manufacturers in the UK who export.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

The leave-remain debate ought to be left for the past. Brexit will happen by automatic operation of law at the end of March 2019. If the Government carries on like this, the UK will trade with the EU and RoW on WTO terms, which will be very hard (look up the Leave Alliance's opinion).

Very interesting discussion about the Euratom. You'd be stupid to dismiss this as "project fear".2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

When you say 'stop the clock', what do you mean?
People keep on mentioning this 'more time'/transition/deferment/implementation period.
One of the problems of the EU is that it only works to a deadline, at which point they seem to finally work 48hrs without sleep and only then come to agreement.
If we put forward the request for extra time:
- they all have to agree to it;
- they'll want something for it.
It does seem typical of the EU that they put in place a law in the form of Article 50 that says an exit agreement should be reached within 2 years and then as soon as someone triggers it they state it isn't possible to do a deal in 2 years.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Richard North's blog entry for today is worth reading. (North is a Brexiteer.)
I don't think his understanding of GDP impacts and resulting tax impacts can be as bad as the back of the envelope calculations he's put forward there, so he must be doing it for political motivations.
Even the most cursory look at that by a moderately informed person should show it to be ridiculous.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

This will make the Brexit arrangements so much clearer
Mr David Davis is at the golf club returning his locker key when Mr Barnier, the membership secretary sees him.
Hello Mr Davis", says Mr Barnier. "I'm sorry to hear you are no longer renewing your club membership,if you would like to come to my office we can settle your account"
"I have settled my bar bill" says Mr Davis.
Ah yes Mr Davis", says Mr Barnier, "but there are other matters that need settlement"
In Mr Barniers office Mr Davis explains that he has settled his bar bill so wonders what else he can possibly owe the Golf Club?
"Well Mr Davis" begins Mr Barnier, "you did agree to buy one of our Club Jackets".
Yes" agrees Mr Davis "I did agree to buy a jacket but I haven't received it yet". As soon as you supply the jacket I will send you a cheque for the full amount".
That will not be possible" explains Mr Barnier. "As you are no longer a club member you will not be entitled to buy one of our jackets"!
“But you still want me to pay for it" exclaims Mr Davis.
"Yes" says Mr Barnier, "That will be £500 for the jacket”.
"There is also your bar bill".
“But I've already settled my bar bill". says Mr Davis.
“Yes" says Mr Barnier, "but as you can appreciate, we need to place our orders from the Brewery in advance to ensure our bar is properly stocked. You regularly used to spend at least £50 a week in the bar so we have placed orders with the brewery accordingly for the coming year. You therefore owe us £2600 for the year".
“Will you still allow me to have these drinks?" asks Mr Davis
“No of course not Mr Davis". "You are no longer a club member!" says Mr Barnier. "Next is your restaurant bill" continues Mr Barnier.
"In the same manner we have to make arrangements in advance with our catering suppliers. Your average restaurant bill was in the order of £300 a month, so we'll require payment of £3600 for the next year".
“ I don't suppose you'll be letting me have these meals either?" asks Mr Davis
“No, of course not," says an irritated Mr Barnier, "you are no longer a club member!"
"Then of course," Mr Barnier continues, "there are repairs to the clubhouse roof".
Clubhouse roof!" exclaims Mr Davis, "What's that got to do with me?"
“Well it still needs to be repaired and the builders are coming in next week, your share of the bill is £2000".
"I see," says Mr Davis, "anything else?"
Now you mention it," says Mr Barnier, "there is Fred the Barman's pension". We would like you to pay £5 a week towards Fred's pension when he retires next month". "He's not well you know so I doubt we'll need to ask you for payment for longer than about five years, so £1300 should do it. This brings your total bill to £10,000" says Mr Barnier.
“Let me get this straight," says Mr Davis, "you want me to pay £500 for a jacket you won't let me have, £2600 for beverages you won't let me drink and £3600 for food you won't let me eat, all under a roof I won't be allowed under and not served by a bloke who's going to retire next month!"
“Yes, it's all perfectly clear and quite reasonable" says MrBarnier.
" off!" says Mr Davis

More like Mr Davis leaving the club, hoping to setup his own rival club whilst enjoying the discounts and benefits of the old club. Not to mention the financial support and discounts Mr Davis received from the club when he setup his business in various parts of the UK and from which he will take the profits but not the ongoing costs.
Even the barman noticed that Mr Davis voted through the membership expansion of the club and agreed to sharing the costs this would bring before legging it. Indeed, the barman would like Mr Davis to 'do-one' if he thinks he will get any further trading discounts from his former club. He would be happy to waive the bar bill if all business dealings with Mr Davis were severed.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I understand the joke, but if such analogies have any trace of reality, therefore I begin to think for the first time that brexit is a good idea but that it should have started from the EU itself and not from the UK
...and....Im sorry to say thatlost in translation!
