found this:

The piece with the vent just pulls off.
I am sure there will be some more on the other side behind the light switch.
I put a small amp for the aux signal here. Will post when I have it working properly, still some noise. "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both- and deserve neither"

Even with a cup holder there is plenty of space. Without one you still have the small storage space.

How did you get this off? Mine's not keen to be removed. I need to get the vent out to remove the pound coin that my daughter posted down there!

You have to give it a good pull from the bottom outwards, don't be shy about it it requires a bit of force.
However I don't think it will be easy to find a coil if it has gone past the vent, but good luck.
If it isn't just behind the vent drop the lower glove box and see where the conduits go. "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both- and deserve neither"

Not sure what Ken meant about the UK....I have a LHD D3 and bought a cup-holder thingy from Nick @ Yeovil...it fits perfectly....I'm sure it's a one-size-fits-all type of thing:
