so i have to change gear manually, you dont, but you have to manually apply park or the EPB, I dont - I like it
Al TDV6 XS Auto - Lugano Teal with Almond Leather, 20" Stormers, Shiny Tailpipes, DVD/TV, BAS Electrickery - and obligatory D3 sticker
Old - TDV6 S - Tonga with Ebony, 20" Stormers, satnav & DVD
If you think you are too small to make a difference - you've never shared a bedroom with a mosquito

True but to do the equivalent of the quick abandon with the keys as described above you must put it in Park so it still can't go anywhere....
If left with the keys in then either manual or auto can roll away.... Cheers

Putting the EPB on when you come to a halt BEFORE you put the D3 in Park was a solution given to me by Gareth & LT on this website. I always used to get a cringe clunk when on a hill a moving from P to engage drive gear. Now I know why! The whole weight of the vehicle was on the parking pawl
Since then no more clunk and can move away smooth without disengaging the park brake by using the clever auto disengage function.

I too came out of an S-Type and immediately saw the similar electronic architecture*. Quite handy when you don't know your way 'round a new car though...
