Set off home a couple of nights ago and heard a squealing noise coming from the drivers side of the car, after a couple of miles it seemed to go away and thought no more of it.
Today I took the disco out and all seemed well till I got out, stepping onto the side steps it made a squealing noise and did the same when I got back into the car later in the day. It’s now making a screeching sound when I reverse but nothing when I drive forward, the screeching sounds bad and notice when I stand on the side Steps the noise is coming from the front drivers side wheel area.
Only passed its MOT a couple of weeks ago with no issues relating to the drive train/ suspension. When standing on the side steps it sounds like an old pub sign squealing as it swings.
Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Based on your comment about the side steps I'm assuming you can generate the noise when the car is stationary? In which case I'd say there's a dry/split bush in that area, right up until I read that bit I wondered if you had a stone or grit caught in the brake liners... -------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi hgrimmet, yes if I stand on the drivers side step when it’s stationary it makes a noise.
