Hi

I saw a slide out boot flooring thread somewhere , I must search better as I can’t find it Big Cry

Wondering if anyone would be so kind if they know which section it’s in please , as it also had a list of materials, type of runners etc Bow down

I’ve got some 18mm exterior plywood so thinking of designing a telescopic dog ramp that will fix to the boot floor like that boot slide out shelf , using some HD runners , along with anti slip material etc

Also don’t think I’ll gain much if I remove the 3rd row seats to gain more room for the sliding shelf ?

Many thks as always Thumbs Up

I bought a Pet Gear PG9300DR Tri-fold Pet ramp from Amazon for my old boy to get in to the back of the Freelander 2. It was about £50 at the time.

Ratchet strapped it to the left hand side of the boot using seat locking loop and tie down point.

Really nice pice of kit. Just had to watch you didn't catch the paint work with the abrasive ramp surface!!!

Here he is when we were doing the weekly trip to Cambridge for his radio therapy:

He passed away last year. I still miss him. RIP Sid

Thks for the ref to the ramp , indeed does seem the best way to go by using the ramp left or right hand side of the boots tailgate , because if a car is close behind won’t be able to extend the ramp straight out from the back of the disco

To save me having to move the ramp wish to come up with the use of sliding runners and ramp so will then be easier , either a bifold one or telescopic

Do have some sheets left over of 18mm plywood which I’m tempted to use with some antislip matting

As if I wish to mount it sideways on the tailgate it has to extend past it because of the tailgates support cable

Got a few ideas in my head but won’t know if it will work yet , will of course share them if they work,

So sorry to hear about Sid Big Cry

Sounds like you’ve got a real innovative solution going there. Look forward to seeing the finished item Thumbs Up

Thanks for condolences re Sid. He was just over 12 when he went which is a good age for a big dog. He was a real character and very stoic. We thought we’d lost him at 8 when a tumour was discovered in his nose. He had it removed, had radio therapy and recovered to lead a full life after.

Have 2 Beagles now and they’re easy to lift in and out. 15kg instead of nearly 50 Laughing

Just have to keep hold of them after opening the crate so they don’t jump down!!!

Hi

Thks, got too much time on my hands and enjoy doing projects in the winter time Whistle

Will indeed update the thread when I work everything out

Ur welcome and heartbreaking to loose a dear pet which become part of the family

Blimey that must have been a nail biting time and ur stomach churned in knots

My lab is getting heavy trying to help in and out the disco , always worried her legs will go under her or land funny so ensure I always help her

Milly my bichon had pyometra and nearly lost her , she was spayded and fingers crossed now ok

Beagles are lovely dogs with plenty of character

Here’s my two ( ps candy didn’t eat the bird Laughing )

Got to agree we have 2 at the moment neither will jump into the car but I am still able to lift them for now. May have to pigeon hole this ramp thread!!

Have been toying with the idea of removing the rear seats but in fairness don’t think I’ll gain anything by doing that , apart from a small storage area for dogs bowls , water, strops and shackles etc

Looking at the excellent boot shelf pics, apologises can’t remember who built this

To build one of these to then fix a telescopic ramp onto the sliding boot floor , but can see it’s got to come past the support wires on the tailgate in order for the ramp to exit sideways

Think fitting it so the ramp goes on the passenger side would be best , unless I can make the ramp exit both side of the tailgate

Also found this good link ref all sorts of sliding rails etc

http://gsf-slides.co.uk/en/index.asp

Had another look and found 2 x sheets of 18mm exterior plywood , will also get some anti slip matting , black carpet to cover the wood , piano hinges , etc

Also got to think about access to the spare wheel winch , got a few ideas for that
