2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Cairns BlueDiscovery 3

If this was me ( and it was earlier this year ) I would be removing the front near side wheel arch liner and checking the wiring plugs AND looms that lie underneath the liner.
I had normal height only message for approx 12 months and in the end, and after much trawling of the forum and long after I'd replaced all the usual suspects, the fault was found to be wiring.
It was spotted by my local Indy and was a bulge in the loom underneath the liner. After splicing into the bulge, 3 wires were found to be corroded which were quickly cut out and bridged and normal service was resumed.

I was slightly frustrated that I'd not spotted it myself as I had searched and searched but eventually threw myself at the mercy of the local Indy as I was totally stumped. Best £160 I ever spent though. Wink

In short, check every loom for bulges + anything that looks out of the ordinary. There's a thread here somewhere that details the front wheel arch liner but Im sure a search will find it.

I replaced it with the one provided by bearmach which they state must be used or it will void the warranty.

Thread moved.

Amazing, thanks both.

I will take a look behind the front near side wheel arch liner tomorrow. If the first pic is behind the front arch liner, where is the second?

Thanks again.

Hi

Apologises for the confusion , Just enclosed a close up pic of the connectors , same place

As u look at the front near side wheel , they are on the right hand side , up against the bulkhead

If ur not aware there is a hidden bolt , u have to remove the nearside headlight , as a bolt goes through the wing to secure the wheel arch , rest are just plastic clips and small screws

Good luck Thumbs Up

Thanks, just to add I now have another fault showing up (top one). Again sounds like a lack of power somewhere.

Ur welcome

Does sound like an electrical issue , ie maybe the pressure sensor isn’t getting the correct signal ???

Plus, I’ve still got 3 x valve blocks I removed when I replaced mine and can easily rob parts off them to test etc

I still have the reservoir and front block I removed too actually. These should be fine though as only fitted a few weeks back and lasted all that time, including a week in the lakes.

I already gave the intake filter a wash too before I forked out for another AMK.

Excellent, I hadn't seen those pdf's as it happens. They will come in very handy!

Looking at the those screenshots, the latter two can be caused by the first so does look like a cascade effect.

Don't know if this is relevant but talking of the near side wheel arch reminded me that when the dreaded bong came up I had just taken a relatively fast right turn with the camber falling away from me so there was a bit of a roll over to near side. That could have been when possibly exposed/corroded wires were squashed together or plugs became detached.

Also, about two weeks ago I changed the brake pads all round including the front near side sensor. I wonder if I may have loosened a connection in the process.

Wiring! Narpy's suggestion is a real possibility, but so is a faulty relay! Swap it over with a good one of equal value and rule that out first. If no change replace the new one and move on to the wiring!

Hi

Great the pdf will come in handy

Indeed as narpy also said ref the wiring , does seem like u also mention , cascading faults

At least then u can rule things out as u go through the system, a royal pain I grant u , but just think of all the money ur saving by keeping it away from the garage Whistle

Maybe one of the connectors has come out of its securing point and being allowed to move ???

Alas though , all the connectors are tucked away behind that liner , so wouldn’t have thought you’ve disturbed them in any way

Plse let us know how things go Thumbs Up

Will do.

Prof, I'll try the relay I took out when swapping over form old to new AMK assuming that would be the same at least just for testing.

There's no shortage of relays in the box which are the same! The rating and pin assignment are printed on each relay!
