Massive strop and rant-door handle removal and door lock
D4 content:
Replacing the passenger side window regulator and door latch and fook me I am having a nightmare.
Door stripped, window guide and regulator out.
Now the guide says to remove door handle and I cant do it. I have now broken it, but still wont come off.
Does anyone know how to get it off.
Or even better, can someone do the job for me? Money waiting.
I have seriously lost my rag, shouted at the wife who is so mad she dropped a huge jar of rice that has smashed all over the floor and she she now stormed off with the dogs.

Sorry - I know we shouldn't laugh but I did.
Least the dogs will be pleased.

Have you removed the key lock (screw covered by cap above door latch) and also removed the screw at the back of the handle with a long Torx? driver ?
If so you should be able to slide it and then remove.
There is a good guide on Page 4 from Andy based on the door lock replacement for a D3.Worked perfectly on my D4 last week.

I do appreciate the help gents.
I think (now I have calmed down) that my issue is getting the door lock off to allow me to remove the handle.
On that thread it said there is a torx behind a grommet, but I just cant find the grommet.
(I have removed 1 torx from the end of the handle furthest from the lock)
She iu refusing to make any dinner, despite my apologies.

Im away from home and its dark or i would send a pic !
If you look at the door trim above the striker plate (probably not there if you have taken the card off) there is a screw going in at c 45degrees up near the window frame - it goes into the lock body.(behind the cover on the door handle)
Once that is removed, you can remove the lock then the handle assy.

Mr Gadgetnut,
Thank you very much. I have just popped out in the dark (torch in mouth lol) and found that screw and have have now managed to remove the handle.
It confused me as there was no grommet there, just a hole.
Thanks again, everyone.

So all it still not good.
I have started to put it back together, and while testing the window, it wont go to the top, stops 1 or 2 cm short?
I have checked the guide and it seems OK, but the window is wobbly if I push it forward or back.
Now, when I took the window out of the regulator, the glass was screwed in-see pic below. The bottom of the glass is not flat, sort of a shaped edge. with 2 holes in??
Also, looks like someone did some DIY, there was a plank of wood attached to the back of the regulator!

I have put a picture below, that shows a door glass on e bay.
The 2 fixings at the bottom are broken in mine, so I assume thats what I need to buy?
If so, is there a part number? I have looked at LR cat but couldnt see anything.
Cheers
