Is there a decent code reader/ scanner that will do most jobs if not all on both our cars?
I was coming round to the idea of four hundred quid for a reader but if it only works on one car I’m a lot less keen. We have seven cars between our family and it would be nice to think it could be useful,on more than one for that price?
I’m not a mechanic just an owner looking to be able,to identify basic issues on the D3 and her Freelander.
Problem with most generic code readers is they are just that a code reader, some can obviously do more, but they will make 405 quid seem cheap, some can do more but my experience with multi truck ones is they are very poor compared to the real deal
The better ones also need a monthly sub and updating etc again more cost
Buy the icarsoft have a play and if you have more serious issues then the IID is literally only days away via the post man.
I think the extra licence is only 60 quid per car for the iid
Just like the Icarsoft there is never any issue selling 2nd hand IID tools and again you wont lose much money.

I sure hope you are right, just bought the IIDTool for a big chunk of my pension cheque, maybe I can sell my dual trace oscilloscope to recover costs of it doesn't work? I sure hope it can program a new key, only got one with this dead engined machine...
