I believe all the G4's were HSE spec also should have the 'A' bar and winch. It is possible they have been removed but I have my doubts whether it is a genuine G4. Did any G4's come in LHD? The difference in value is huge. Stu

No Winch or mounting for G4 plaque on the rack
I'd ask the G4 owners club

Saying it was the selection vehicle for Italy but without further chassis numbers it’s pure speculation, there is a lot of basic kit missing that would normally indicate genuine from wanna be

It's possible it was an "In Country" creation by an LR Italy Dealer for their national Selections, but as said its missing a lot of the equipment that would normally be present. Winch, A-Bar, Event Plaques, it would have had a Tangiers orange Grill as well, not a gloss black one though this could have been added as an aftermarket item.
The Challenge prepared vehicles for the 09 event were all HSE spec.
All the vehicles prepared at SVO in Solihul were RHD.
I find it a bit odd that all the "G4" references have have been removed in the URL's as well on the wing and on the roofrack (Yes I am an anorak.. )

I have asked this question before about G4 vehicles. The event vehicles should have a plaque stating the number of the vehicle for that G4 Event. As stated the Disco's were all HSE spec.
Then there were RRs, Defenders, Freelanders, etc that were genuine support vehicles but a lot of those weren't in the distinctive Tangiers Orange colour and different livery/decals.
Then LR also sold G4 edition vehicles that were normally to a limited run, say 500, with decals and other mods.
Then there were dealer vehicles, in various countries, where the dealers spec'd up a demo model for publicity for the event.
This could be one of those but it should not be fetching the money of a real deal event G4!! 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey (UK)
2008 D3 HSE Izmir Blue- South African Spec. (Zimbabwe)
2005 FFRR SC V8- Java Black
1995 D1 300 Tdi Blue - (Sourced from the UK, shipped to Namibia, driven by me to RD Congo, then Zambia, now retired in Zimbabwe)

I’m inclined to agree.... I think it’s fake...
Wrong bumper, no winch or winch tray, non HSE, LHD,
Think it’s a copy or as others have said a local trails version...

2008 D3 HSE Izmir Blue- South African Spec. (Zimbabwe)

get the chassis number and check with the G4 owners club as im pretty sure they will have a list
also LR didn't produce G4 edition D3, the only Discovery G4 Edition was the D2 available in black, yellow or Tangiers and the only other official G4 editions were Defenders. So its either a genuine G4 or its a decent enough looking replica 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Not entirely accurate as many weren't fitted, the event number plaque is available as a reproduction from the G4OC and states "This vehicle is one of X Number created for the 200X Challenge". They would normally have a fleet number in the centre of the windscreen near to the rear view mirror mount though. The Club can provide the fleet number if one was issued.
CongoBoy wrote: Then there were RRs, Defenders, Freelanders, etc that were genuine support vehicles but a lot of those weren't in the distinctive Tangiers Orange colour and different livery/decals.
All the support vehicles were Tangiers Orange and liveried the same as the event vehicles with the exception of two D3 Ambulances which were Silver for the 2009 event.
CongoBoy wrote:Then LR also sold G4 edition vehicles that were normally to a limited run, say 500, with decals and other mods.
The G4 Editions (2003/2004 D2, 90 and 110 models) we (G4OC) believe were limited to 200 of each model in Tangiers Orange, Java Black, Zambezi Silver and Borrego Yellow, Freelanders were never officially called Editions, but were issued in the same colour pallet, and marketed as "Kalahari"
Hope that helps. G4OC Secretary
