Hi RydinOrwin, I agree with Motolab.
The fact is they all fail regardless of year up until 2008, and even then some of MY09 can still have the old style pump. Though you are correct it does seem MY07 is particularly prone to this failure.
That said, at 140k on your current pump you should change it anyway, regardless of whether it had the improved style or not. If you can hear the timing chains rattle beyond the first 3 or 4 seconds after start up it's a warning! Over time the pumps loose pressure which can have detrimental effects on engine bearings
I insist on changing the pumps now with every belt change/100k. Otherwise I will refuse the work.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

The pre 07 oil pumps do fail just not as often as the 07/08 oil pumps. As others have said - just not worth the risk. It is a shame you do not have Ford products with the TDV6 fitted in the UK - at Ford Dealers in Aust the oil pumps are only a third of the cost of oil pumps bought at LR Dealers and LR Indies.
